What Is A Total Solar Eclipse?

Dude. It’s only one of natures most spectacular shows and it hasn’t happened in the US for 99 years!

In more descriptive terms for those of you still “in the dark”:

A total solar eclipse occurs when the New Moon 🌑 comes between the Sun ☀️ and Earth 🌎 and casts the darkest part of its shadow, the umbra, on Earth. A full solar eclipse, known as totality, is almost as dark as night.

On Monday, August 21, one of these bad boys will be swooping across the United States.
