Travel is a deeply personal affair.
There are many different reasons each of us is compelled to see the world, each one unique to who we are. Being outside of your familiar environment has a way of bringing out parts of yourself you often didn’t know were there.
This weeks quote is all about that personal journey that happens when you are on a literal journey.
American actor, singer, dancer, comedian, and musician Danny Kaye kick-started his career performing with “Three Terpsichoreans” – a vaudeville dance act.
On a tour of the Far East, while in Osaka, Japan, a typhoon hit the city and by show time that evening there was no power and the audience was shaken and scared.
Kaye went on stage holding a flashlight to illuminate his face and sang songs using pantomime, gestures, and facial expressions that would eventually make his reputation.
This experience in Japan, entertaining an audience who did not speak English, had a profound effect on his life and career.
