Chinese New Year

While it may be a bit late to plan a trip for the New Year in London, we can recommend that you experience the Chinese New Year.
It is the largest celebration outside of Asia and takes place in the city’s Chinatown and West End. The celebration will include a parade, live performances and lots of food markets.
This is truly a spectacular event to witness, and a good illustration of how London is one of the world’s most culturally diverse and exciting cities.
PPPoker Festival
When: January 15–19, 2020
For those who want to embrace their inner James Bond, London is one of the top places in the world to play poker. From January 15 to 19, one of the most prestigious poker festivals in the world gets underway in the city. Cardplayer details how London will be the first destination for PPPoker events in 2020 with the tournament taking place at the Aspers Casino in Stratford.
The main event will have a $133,481 (C$ 175,307) prize pot with “unlimited re-entries across the four starting flights”. Alongside the poker tournament, there is also the Players’ Party, which will feature top DJs and lots of live entertainment. For a truly unique experience in London, this is a must-try.
London International Mime Festival
When: January 29 – 31, 2021
London News Online reports that this festival runs the gamut of contemporary visual performance, which includes live art, puppetry, physical and circus-theater, movement and object theater, and masked performances.
It was founded way back in 1977, making it the longest-running festival of its kind. This 2021 it will feature 10 overseas theater companies, plus 8 of the UK’s finest groups. It will be headlined by “a triple-bill of silent movie classics with live jazz accompaniment.” Experiencing this festival is a great way to get your fill of a lesser-known area of culture, so do check it out.
Fashion Week
When: February 19–23 2021
Last year, the British Fashion Council announced London Fashion Week: Insiders, a two-day special that will be held during London Fashion Week.
It will feature renowned designers, like Fyodor Golan and Osman, as well as a Positive Fashion talk series headlined by sustainable fashion designer Amy Powney. As a bonus, you’ll be able to buy items straight from the catwalk. It’s a fashion week like no other, which means it’s something to look forward to.
