He inherited the Benson red hair. His Dad was my Aunt Lavonia’s son. He passed away at 58. Chris was so good to his Grandma and loved her so much.
He even put me to work helping make dinner! That’s a true Benson for you!!
This was his Dad, my cousin Waymon. He was in the Air Force during Vietnam and passed away from cancer caused by Agent Orange.
This is a pan that Chris has. It’s from the set of the Golden Girls tv show!
Family is everything!! \240So blessed to be able to visit with him.

Nothing but trees,
Lots of cliff sides,
Then we found this wonderful place called Tim Horton’s. Super good coffee, on my daughter, Kim’s recommendation.
One of the best cookies I have ever eaten, called a Reese’s Dream!
Made it to Nova Scotia:)
This is Lunenburg, NS. A beautiful little fishing village.
It’s been a great day. More adventures tomorrow:)))
Never in my life would I have imagined I’d be walking on the ocean floor.
This is Burntcoat Park and Lighthouse. It’s the site of the highest tide in the world.
This is where we will be walking, way down there.
Gordy in the Lighthouse.
This was the forecasted tides for today!! Yes, that’s 46 ft!!
This is low tide and those are people out there
This is where we walked down stone steps carved into the bedrock to get to the ocean floor
This is Flowerpot Island.
Looking up to where the lighthouse sits from the ocean floor.
Gordy and I with the wall of flowerpot island behind us.
We learned so much about the environment and creatures that occupy it. squid eggs.
Green crabs are invasive and kill off rock crabs
This is an animal, dead man’s hands:)
Rock crab
Flowerpot Island from other side
Our tour guides Kenan and Tristan! They did an amazing job!
Lunch at Mud Slide Cafe, delicious!!
Now, this is the site of a Tidall bore, where the ocean and river meet and fight for dominance.
Over 160 Billion gallons of water come into the Bay of Fundy with each tide change every six hours!
This beauty came to visit us, monarch butterflies were my Mom’s favorites and today was her heavenly birthday.
The Tidal bore
Back to Burntcoat for high tide.
These were the areas we walked in earlier.
This was an amazing day! Gordy and I feel so blessed to been able to experience this!!
Yesterday was our final day in Canada. It’s really a beautiful area.
Gordy watches “The Curse of Oak Island” on TV a lot. It’s about the over 200 yr search for a treasure supposedly linked to the Knights of Templar. It’s off the shores of Nova Scotia. The Island is closed to visitors cause they’re filming season 11 right now.
So, we went on a boat tour around the island, our captain and guide actually works on the show as a diver.
This is two of the guys on the show working. It’s a drill site that they’re exploring right now.
This was a bucket list item for Gordy!
Beautiful day and our guide was so knowledgeable!
Then back to USA. Going over thru border, Mounties were friendly, welcoming and polite. Coming home, our Border Patrol was curt, almost menacing and so unwelcoming. I was really surprised by the difference in attitude. Welcome Home!!
We took an absolutely beautiful drive yesterday to Vermont.
Past Mount Washington.
Into the White Mountain area.
It still amazes me at the beauty, peace and serenity this country of ours offers.
And at the power of Mother Nature. We are not in a badly flooded area but not far from us the streams are overflowing and very fast moving.
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
We started today with a trip to Dog Mountain. A preserve left by artist Stephen Huneck dedicated to dogs , past and present. It’s a place for dogs to run, play be welcome in all buildings. The gallery is full of his works and the Chapel filled with memorials to pets.
All the notes and pictures on the walls are pets that have pasted away.
Then thru a covered bridge on our way to Mt Washington State Park.To drive the Auto Road. America’s first man made attraction.
Mt Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6288.2 ft Elevation.
The stairs to the Observatory.
Our view when parked. It’s known for the notoriously unpredictable weather. It didn’t disappoint with that today.
Sunny at bottom, rained on the way up and then at Summit, so foggy and windy. We could hardly see where we were walking.
Started to clear a little on the way down.
Amazing views. The temperature difference from the bottom of the mountain to the top was 30 degrees without a wind chill factor.
When it’s not raining, Vermont is beautiful. We had thunderstorms almost everyday while there.
We also needed routine maintenance on the truck, so while it was getting care, we found an old railroad line with a beautiful tressle they have turned into a bike/ walking path.
This is part of the White Mountain range, Jefferson Mountain.
Lots of stone work that dates back centuries, still standing. The old timers really knew how to build things.
We finally got in a 8 mile bike ride on the LeMoille Rail Trail. It’s a 93 mile trail in Vermont. We were not trying to go the whole way on that for sure!!
We are in New York now and guess what!!
IT RAINED ALL NIGHT!!!
Praying for better weather:)))
My Journo has been lacking lately. Gordy hurt his back in Vermont and he has been having a rough time getting better. I’ve been driver, chief cook and camper hauler
It’s been quite the learning curve but I’ve been able to do it. We are in a lovely place, nestled in the mountains in Pennsylvania! They celebrated Christmas in July this weekend. God is Good and prayers for healing.
Gordy is on the mend, we spent today at Kinzua Bridge State Park in the Allegeheny Mountains.
A 225 foot high skywalk. The iron viaduct was once the longest and tallest railroad structure in the world . It was replaced by a steel viaduct which was partially destroyed by a tornado in July 2003.
In 2011 it was reinvented as a pedestrian walkway.
Then we stopped at the Kinzua Dam.
This little guy was really busy trying to pollinate all these flowers:))
Had another severe thunderstorm here in Illinois. Thankfully no damage to us.
Then Christmas in July at this campground.
Loving our time with Charles, Leann, Whitney, Charlie and Georgia
Pool fun
Foam on the beach
A beautiful sunset
Then fun collecting sticks
Young kids sitting around
Old folks bike riding
Charles and family swimming
And a “proposal “
And acceptance:)))
Had a great time with Charles, Leann and girls! Now headed to Tennessee to visit my cousin.
This little girl doesn’t get too far away from her Pa:)
Then we had a visit with Gordy’s cousin Gene!! Great seeing him and Vicki!
As another great adventure comes to an end. The Nashville skyline.
Visiting my beautiful sweet cousin in Tullahoma, TN
The house my cousin Ricky and his wife Lori designed and are building.
The sunsetting on a great trip. 8,525 miles, 9 weeks, numerous bucket list items and lots of fun and memories made with Family!!!
At the end of our trip, we brought our granddaughter Whitney, home with us for 2 weeks!! We had so much fun!!
