4
La Brea Tar Pits and Museum

We stopped to see the La Brea tar pits, which sit over an oil field and where they’ve found thousands and thousand of fossils going all the way back to the ice age. Saber toothed tigers and wooly mammoths. It smells so bad!

The deserts look like glass - so perfect

Bottega Louie was definitely worth the stop

9
555 Universal Hollywood Dr, North Hollywood, CA 91608, USA

Found a great view on our way back to the hotel and tasted the macarons - so good! The building with the red words on top says Hilton. That’s our hotel!

14
Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios!!

Simpson’s ride - kinda fun, but mostly made us sick to our stomachs.

You can see Disney Studios and Warner Brothers as you walk down to the lower lot

First time on the Mummy definitely scared us!

That balcony is our VIP lounge

The regular tour goes on these trams…

… but the VIPs get our own little bus

These brownstones get used in a lot of movies … the second one is where Kevin McAllister throws bricks from in Home Alone 2!

Back to the Future!

Lots more sets to choose from! \240Most are just facades - there’s nothing behind those walls

They told us how they made the cowboys look really big and strong - tiny doors! And the women walked out of tall doors so they’d look smaller and daintier.

Nothing is real here! \240Even the bricks are all fake!

Jaws

Wisteria Lane

Ok, one thing was real - this is actually a 747 they wrecked for War of the Worlds

Met a Dino!

Notice only two people from our VIP group aren’t wearing ponchos…

… now she’s really wet…

VIP lunch! \240The buffet was delicious and we both got more than we could eat. The view was pretty too!

Then Dracula stopped by! Julianne thought he was totally cool and hilarious, except for not at all.

Second time for the Mummy!

Back to Hogwarts!

Hogwarts Express!

I’m super cool on my Vespa

This was where our lunch was - red carpet and everything!

Butterbeer!!

It’s really not great …

The Waterworld show was awesome! There was fire, plane crashes… and a lot of water thrown at the front row.

By the fifth time on the Mummy, you can basically sleep through it…

Here’s the rest of the official photos!

Orbic Air Helicopter Tours

Helicopter!!

We LOVED it. Our driver pointed out everything from the air!

Life jacket on her waist and ready to go!

We look like pros. One of us is nervous though (it’s not Julianne).

Here’s Warner Brothers!

Walt Disney Production Studios!

And, of course, we saw Universal - Studios and Amusement Park. We could see the WaterWorld show going from the air!

Hollywood sign!!!

The circular building was made to look like a stack of vinyl records - it’s Capitol Records!

The Hollywood Bowl!

Famous people’s houses - we knew who when we were up there! Jeff Bezos, Johnny Depp, Magic Johnson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Doctors Dre and Phil, the Playboy Mansion (which is under construction), Steven Spielberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, The Prince of… somewhere, and some others but I don’t remember who or which is which!

The W shaped one is the Spellings mansion - I think. Unless it isn’t.

Marina Del Ray

Los Angeles Country Club

Marina Del Ray with LAX in the background

Venice!

The Baywatch lifeguard station

Muscle Beach

Santa Monica Pier!

Probably somebody Rich’s \240mansion

Definitely some rich people’s mansion - this is where a bunch of celebrities live. Mulholland Drive

The Getty Center

That prince’s house

The “gigamansion”

We had to wait for this Delta flight to land so we could land.

And some videos!

23
iFLY Indoor Skydiving - Hollywood

Indoor skydiving! \240Really fun - we were both able to fly pretty high!

24
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville

Finally dinner time! \240It was good and our waitress was nice but it took a long time. We were so hungry and tired!

25
Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City

Final day, final pancake breakfast! And one last look at our view.

26
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood

The Warner Brothers Studio Tour was really cool! \240Sets from Friends and Big Bang Theory I thought were awesome, Gilmore Girls that Julianne loved, and Harry Potter that we both liked. We also got to try out a greenscreen.

Where the animaniacs live!

Jurassic Park was shot on this street when Jeff Goldblum is running from the T-Rex

This cabin has been used for shows like Lucifer and Pretty Little Liars - as seven different locations just in that show!

That’s Alison DeLaurentis’ house in Pretty Little Liars behind a “bush truck” - which is just a truck they load up with bushes and leaves to hide something another shoot doesn’t want to see, like that house.

These houses get used as a facade - inside are a bunch of production offices.

This is the most used house on the Midwest lot.

Parking reserved by show that’s shooting.

A “dressed” set for Young Sheldon

Another view of the animaniacs tower

Something famous from some movie happened on the second balcony up. I forget what.

Those fire escapes came from New York City salvage yards

New York street - this was used a lot in Friends. This building was where Phoebe gave a homeless woman $1000 and she gave Phoebe a soda that ended up having a thumb in it. 🤢

This is Chicago street with the EL,, and has most famously been used (and was built) for ER.

Patsie’s Pies from Shameless

This is one of their most versatile practical sets. It was where Lorelei and Luke had their first date on Gilmore Girls.

Embassy Court has been a lot of things, including pretty much every embassy on the West Wing (just switch out the flags). It was also the Radley Sanitorium on Pretty Little Liars.

The Friends fountain, of course!! They had to move it from another spot on the lot because they’re selling that property, but this is where the reunion was shot. They just move some of those “bush trucks” behind it so you don’t see the other buildings.

The set of the Ellen show!

Lot H - mostly a parking lot, but also a helipad when necessary. It was the helipad “on top of the hospital” in ER.

Central Perk!

The costumes from Space Jam

Hanging out in Central Perk

The whole set is there

It looks like the stairs go up and around the corner, but there are really only about 5 stairs. The rest is painted.

The apartment in the Big Bang Theory (Julianne sat in Sheldon’s seat)

And the cafeteria in the Big Bang Theory.

Forced perspective - I’m supposed to look like a Hobbit while Julianne looks like a giant on the screen in the background.

The Batman bike you could try and they put you on a greenscreen riding it.

We both tried riding the Harry Potter broomstick and casting some spells. We got the video!

I can’t believe they caught us!

Lunch at Central Perk was the Joey Special - TWO pizzas. Also saw a bunch of other Friends sets.

The actual costumes worn by a bunch of superheroes! \240Julianne FaceTimed Kayleigh because she knew she’d love this part.

I’m Aquaman!

From the Dark Knight

The Batwing

Jason Momoa’s Aquaman costume

The Flying Car from Harry Potter

The Marauder’s Map

Time to make some potions!

The cupboard under the stairs

Getting sorted - I got Gryffindor, Julianne got Slytherin

The greenhouse

And the award goes to… Julianne Mohr! \240It’s a real Oscar!

27
Hollywood & Highland

We saw the outside of the Dolby Theatre (we couldn’t do the tour, they were having a private event).

On Oscars night, this part of the mall becomes the red carpet!

The Walk of Fame!

The Chinese Theatre!

Hand and footprints in the courtyard of the Chinese Theatre. This is the most popular theatre for movie premiers.

28
Madame Tussauds Hollywood

We had a lot of fun at Madame Tussaud’s! \240Julianne struck the same pose as most of the celebrities. I… did not.

The Kardashians house from seasons 1-3

The house where Michael Jackson died. It’s right across the street from where Elvis died.

30
Mels Drive-In

Dinner at Mel’s Dinner and a couple more celebrity houses before we head back to LAX!

31
Los Angeles International Airport

Waiting to board our red eye home!

32
Hilton Los Angeles Airport

Turns out we’re not out of here just yet. After getting to the airport around 9, we headed over, got through security, and settled in to wait for our flight. A small mechanical issue meant we’d be delayed about 15 mins, leaving about midnight. An exhausted Julianne took it like a champ.

Then, finally, they put us on the plane. \240Just about the whole plane was boarded when the pilot came on to say there was good news… and bad news. \240“The good news is we’re going to Indianapolis tonight! \240The bad news is, we aren’t leaving until 2am. My first mate was doing his final checks and noticed an issue. Safety is our number one priority, so we’ll have to deplane and they’re going to bring you another plane in.

We sat / snoozed in the airport another hour until I and everyone around us started getting texts. Your flights been delayed to 5am. No, 8:45am. After trying to get more info from the gate agents, we finally called an Uber and are now at the Hilton LAX. Julianne is thankfully asleep and I’m trying to relax so I can get some sleep too. We’ll try again tomorrow!

33
Hilton Los Angeles Airport

Caught one break and the shuttle that comes every 30-40 minutes was waiting downstairs as we walked down! Finally headed home and only going to be about 10 hours late! At least Julianne said she thought the beds were super comfy - even if we weren’t in them nearly long enough.
