We leave in 1 week and the packing frenzy has begun!
Travel day has finally arrived!
Packing seemed like it wasn’t going to be difficult but you’d be surprised how fast your bag gets to 50lbs!
It got a little crazy once we picked up Grandma 😂
Here we are on the longest leg of our journey Seattle to Dubai. 14 hours!!! 😬
Dubai was super hot with high humidity. Unfortunately after 14+ hours on the plane we didn’t capture too many photos but we met J’s cousin Grace who works for Emirates in the airport.
We had a 15 hour layover which was such a blessing. We stayed at Le Meridian and enjoyed a really nice Thai food dinner before getting about 6 hours of sleep.
Shout out to J’s cousin Grace because the hotel hookup came with amazing meal vouchers for dinner and breakfast.
The airport in Dubai is incredibly clean and super grand.
Now we are hoping on our quick 5 hour flight to Nairobi.
Karibu Kenya coming soon! ❤️❤️
We made it! Two of J’ cousins (Grace and Michelle) met us and smoothed everything through immigration for us. Right through the diplomat line 😂.
The welcome party didn’t mind blocking traffic to get us loaded up.
The drive to our airbnb was eventful!
Happy to be here ❤️🇰🇪
Today we hung out with several of J’s cousins at our Airbnb. Lots of laughs and memories shared. We also celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary! ❤️
Check out the garden ❤️
Then we headed to J’s uncles for dinner which was more of a feast!
Again more laughing 😂
The drive home had some sites and sounds 😂. Did you see what was on the grill? 😳
Headed to Rusinga ❤️
The transport for all our luggage and food for the island
Betty let us borrow her car and one of her drivers to take us to Rusinga
It wil be snug back here for the 8 hour journey
We arrived at 6:30 pm. A few stops along the way.

Boda Boda’s delivery goods and humans! You can order a ride on one with the Uber app if you are feeling brave 😉
Cows and goats everywhere!
This is an avocado. They are giant and we paid 80 Kenya shillings which is equivalent
Quick stop for some tomatoes
The avocados are huge! We paid 80 Kenya shillings for two which is the equivalent of 63 cents 😳
Tune in tomorrow for our arrival to Rusinga!
Arriving in Rusinga we had an incredible welcome party. It was so overwhelming that I took no photos. I met so many people I can’t possibly start naming names but we felt very welcome.
What I thought was supposed to be a Memorial event for J’s Dad turned into a wedding celebration for all of J’s family that wasn’t able to attend our wedding 9 years ago.
After all the fun the day before we needed to sneak away. We started the day with a walk down to the lake right by our house❤️
Today we got to see Uncle Carilos house and check out our property that shares a fence with his place.
