We listened to a No Such Thing As A Fish podcast on the way, and The Islander.

Our first camping coffee of the week, we listened to Hadestown on our way here. I love the story, especially Eurydice, I don’t need no ring for my finger, just fire when I’m cold.
We had a little walk this morning then Finn got a wet breakfast, lucky boy! But he hasn’t eaten since we left so he deserved it.
Very exciting to walk up to the top of a hill, look back and see my home on wheels.
And this view!!!
Off to Hull we go…
Favourite lunch spot!
We made it to Hull. Listened to lots on the way up, Busted’s latest album, Once on This Island and a few random shuffles.
We have had a lovely day catching up with Vicki, we went for a walk with Lou and Josh and then dropped in on David. Vicki’s Purezza order has arrived so we are having pizza for dinner before I set off to find a sleeping spot between here and Newcastle.
What a stunning view to wake up to…
We had another lovely drive yesterday evening, listening to The Light Princess. We came round some country roads and ended up at a ford! Bit of a shock at 10:30pm but the water was really low so we crossed. What an adventure.
Woke up in time to see a bit of sunrise this morning before my morning coffee.
Off to see the gang at Nudge HQ shortly!
Met up with Brian, Charlotte, Diego and Lizzie today. Finn made a lot of friends…
We had a lovely walk back home past a big rainbow bridge!
Well. We fell asleep last night in Newcastle so that was that decision made. Considerably warmer in the van without being exposed to the wind on the top of the North York Moors. Didn’t have to put the diesel heater on at 5am to stave off the chills and Finn came in for a cuddle at about 7.
Clambered up the hill for a wizard cup of coffee before we hit the road and head the furthest north I’ve ever been…again!
Finn had a good scamper and sniff along the river this morning. (And it was a TWO POOER)
Yesterday, on the way up to Newcastle, I listened to the Lord of the Rings musical. I felt a lot like Sam, “if I take one more step it will be the furthest I’ve ever been from home”. Not quite true but the farthest North I’ve ever been in the UK!
Today we motored up the north coast to Taylor Swift.
We are nearly at the Scottish border. We are going to turn back now and start meandering back in a southerly direction. We made it to a big castle but I don’t know if it will stop raining enough to persuade Finn to go for a walk!
He’s gone to bed for now… made myself an egg sandwich for brunch.
Last minute drop into a legitimate campsite! We are hooked up and charging after a fairly grey day.
The grey just meant that I had an excuse go to sit and knit while I listened to an Orphan Black podcast.
On the way accross we had Made in Dagenham, nothing changes if it isn’t challenged.
Woke up with a fully charged battery and a happy solar panel, emptied my toilet and filled up my water. £20! Bargain! He gave me a £5 discount because I arrived late and had to share a spot with a vacant caravan. No drama for me though.
Made a full on camping breakfast before we hit the road to come and see Chloe.
Listened to The Band’s Visit and Beetlejuice.
Had a lovely lunch with Chlo. She’d brought a godawful Santa outfit which Finn wore while we ate lunch.
Chloe’s gone to her sister’s house, the Frozen Mop have said I can park the van in their car park overnight so me and Finnegan are chilling in the van.
The folks at the pub got him a little teacup for his water!
AND I FINISHED MY GAME OF ACCORDION WITH ONLY ONE PILE FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!
Hung a stocking by the chimney last night, but no beardy old men tried to get in while I was asleep.
Just finished a very good book, Piranesi by Susanna Clark.
Very lovely busy morning, made myself a delicious breakfast and had a cup of coffee in my favourite mug from La Casa de Señora Greenberg.
Followed by an absolutely mammoth walk that started with 3 dogs and ended with 5! So cute, Bas and Finn are getting the hang of each other outdoors which is the dream.
Finn had loads of treats and did so many poops. He was even treated to a festive butternut feast!
We have found a beautiful but slightly windy park up for the night. Hoping for a clear morning romp across the fields. We will see how that goes!
Well. We parked up last night in a lovely spot. I made a bowl full of delicious, cheesy, leek & mushroom pasta and watched the new Disney film, Encanto. It was great. Didn’t expect to step in snow when I took Finn out for a wee at 6am!
Before…
After (I wipered most of the snow off the windscreen!
Well, what an adventurous morning…
Visibility was pretty poor here.
But Finn’s a very good boy so he got to have some little scampers.
Didn’t manage to get one with both of us looking at the camera though.
Then the next problem, how to make a grilled cheese with no grill and no pan lids?
Makeshift stovetop oven of course!
Result.🤤
Well what a hilarious end to the day. I found a lovely spot by the river, there was quite a big puddle in the car park but no bother!
Got myself all tucked in for the night with the blinds drawn. Made myself a yummy plate of vegetables…
It’s been quite the culinary adventure today, I remembered I have chillis stashed at the back of a cupboard so it’s been a spicy one.
Picture the scene, I’ve done my dinner, some knitting, listened to a couple of podcasts and think, the bin could do with an empty, I’ll take Finn for a little walk and find a place to chuck my rubbish. Get Finnegan suited and booted, look out my window before I open the door. The puddle has grown. Turns out the puddle is the river! So I panic and zoom off out of the spot forgetting about my cup of tea on the side.
Turns out I had parked IN a the river rather than by it. Or the river was claiming the car park. Either way, I’ve found a spot very far away from the river and I threw my rubbish away by this pretty abbey.
(Testing out the low light level exposures on my phone! ✌🏼)
Nearly forgot my favourite photo of the day!
Although it’s been grey and rainy. Me and Finnegan have stayed warm and dry. Too misty for views but plenty warm enough for an endless supply of tea, podcasts and knitting!
I was absolutely blown away by this Esther Perel podcast, “under patriarchy men can either feel powerful or connected”. 🤯
