As the weeks tick closer, the anticipation grows… our biggest dilemma: how to make room in our luggage for all the American goodies we are planning to take to our European Hosts!
Train tickets purchased, even went ‘First Class’ on two routes: Copenhagen to Mannheim and Manheim to Dachau. \240
New luggage has been purchased, new clothing is ready, and gifts are starting to pile up as we ponder how much weight we can pack in our bags. \240
Up early and made a run to Rolling Pin to get a fresh donut for Freddy. Making sure we had all last minute items and gave the puppy one last snuggle.

Well we’re off after a little airport drama with Aaron forgetting his iPhone in the car with Garrett, then Aaron sprinting from Terminal 4 to Terminal 6 to get it. .
We got boarding passes and luggage checked, going through security. Aaron got searched because he had forgotten to dump the water out of his bottle.
Once we got on the plane, our day proceeded without incident until 15 minutes before landing in Philadelphia our plane diverted because of a storm to Baltimore. When the pilot first announced the diversion most of the people in the plane laughed, thinking he was joking until we realized we were flying away from the airport. An hour or two of sitting in the airport, yielded a flurry of texts and rescheduled flights from the airline, resulting in the same flight 24 hours later from Philadelphia to Copenhagen.
After waiting in a line to get a taxi voucher, we retrieved our bags then shared a cab with a fellow, Copenhagen-bound Angelino. We found a clean bed at an airport hotel, and ordered a pizza.

Day 1 in the books and still in North America, we are trying to remember that, " It's all part of the adventure!"
We woke up in Baltimore and took a taxi ridethrough Delaware and into Pennsylvania. Last nights storm has given way to blue skies. We wandered the streets of Philadelphia, found Jim’s Cheesesteaks, THE classic cheese steak and enjoyed a bite on the sidewalk.
We wandered the streets and enjoyed Independence square.
After touring congress hall, we walked through the "president’s" house which was George Washington’s residence when he was President. We visited the Benjamin Franklin muresem and developed a new appreciation for one of our most influential founding fathers.
Next we wandered into Franklin’s print shop where Aaron made friends with a park rangerand discussed a range of topics fromfranklins printing empire takes transition into politics.
We learned more about the Declaration of Independence, now it was signed and how it was printed and published for distribution throughout the colonies. We then dropped into his post office where we bought postage for our postcards and they were hand canceled. A last stroll through the city, and along the waterfront, a stop for a cocktail and quick dinner then off to the airport we went.
