It’s 12.45am. We are wide awake. We left London on Tuesday night. 27 hours later (including the 5 hour stop over in Singapore) we are now in Auckland.
The journey went very well. We arrived in Auckland on 3rd October at 13.30pm local time, got a bus to the city centre and within half an hour of trying to find our aparthotel we were stopped by two different NZ locals asking if they could help us with directions. We were so rateful as the second lady set us in nthe right direction and we found our place for the night. We slept for 8 hours from 15.00pm to 23.00pm. And now we are wide awake. So we are checking out routes for the North Island and working out our plan for tomorrow which will roughly involve: Early wake up about 6am, explore Auckland (we are based right beside the Sky Tower), come back and get our bags and go to the travellers autobarn to pick up our camper van, go to a supermarket to pick up groceries, then make our way to Whangarei which is about 2 hours North of Auckland. We intend to go via Waipu Beach which looks like a pretty coatal spot with free glow worm cove exploring! We will spend the night in Whangarei before heading further Noeth to the Bay of Islands and Cape Reinga. Watch this space.
