#20: So Many Shades of Blue, Day 4: Cliff Jumping & More!

For our last day in Santorini, we continued exploring the island on our quads, but today we would head north, to Oia.

Hannah was happy to give it a go as a driver today. As you can see, Mckenna not so much; you have to be 21 to drive. (She may or may not have driven a little outside of the city 🤷‍♀️)

Much to my relief, this meant I could be a rider again.

We set off in formation, eventually driving on very curvy mountain roads. The views were amazing, but the drive a little tense.

We made it with no problem, and it was well worth the effort; Oia is beautiful.

Everything was so white and clean, with pops of color. Note the small “pools”. \240They are everywhere. The smallest we saw was a triangular shape, with literally standing room for one.

We found a lovely cafe overlooking the water, and enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Yogurt bowl

Pancakes with yogurt, honey & walnuts-yum!

We then made our way over to Ammoudi Bay, which is at the northern tip of the island.

I have to say I never tired of these views. They were breathtaking every time.

Once there, we had a short hike to the swimming/cliff jumping area.

We had to cross this narrow bridge. You probably aren’t surprised to hear I was pretty nervous, but we all made it across.

Notice the beautiful shades of blue in the water. It was gorgeous!

It got even prettier as we continued around the bend. This is one of my favorite pictures; it captured the different shades of blue in the water.

Everyone immediately took advantage of a refreshing dip in the water, and debated whether to try the Cliff Jumping. It was really windy and we worried about the current being strong.

David and Glenn decided to give it a go.

It was pretty nerve racking watching them.

But they did! *Sorry, but the audio is not good on the video due to the wind.

They said the jump looks even higher when you’re looking down, but it must not have been too bad as David went several more times.

David also found a much smaller place to jump on our side of the bay, and very kindly coached the girls as they jumped.

It was a great pit stop and so much fun!

On our hike back, we had to pass a couple of waterfront restaurants and saw this. \240Yes, it’s real.

Glenn, Mckenna and I were ready for a break, so they dropped us off and headed to another beach.

Glenn and I showered then took advantage of the nearby Taverna.

For our last night, we decided to finish the same way we had started: watching the sunset, with dinner on our balcony.

It was simply gorgeous.

We were all sad for this trip to come to an end.....

You know how you dream about something for a long time, and then it’s about to happen, and there’s this little voice inside your head saying it might not live up to your dreams?

I’m happy to say this was not the case; Santorini was incredible from start to finish, and was better than anything I had imagined.

It was far more beautiful than pictures show, but what made this trip so incredible was being able to share it with those I love. It was truly the trip of a lifetime.
