Australien Rice Krispes
First full day in Australia. I woke up at 4:30 because the sun is out here by then. We found a nice coffee shop like a block from our house and it turns out that an Americano is called a “Long Black” here. It is very hot here, but today it is breezy throughout the day. Most days, it is only breezy in the afternoon, and it comes from the Indian Ocean in the west. Our town, Applecross, is close to the ocean but is not directly adjacent. There is a town in between called Fremantle and the wind often seems to come from there. Hence, these afternoon west winds are called the “Fremantle Doctor” by the residents of Applecross. They often say that the Doctor’s in when the wind picks up. Later, Dad, Patrick, and I went to a beach. It was lots of fun. The sand was warm, but not too hot. I presume that this is because the sand was almost white in color. There were waves almost 6ft tall which you could ride using your body. There were also a multitude of kite surfers further offshore. I spent most of my time riding these waves, whilst Patrick spent his time digging in the sand. After, we headed home to end the day.
