Day 1

Let the vacation begin! \240The kids are ready!

Mommy had a quick morning meeting while everyone else went up the Space Needle in Seattle for some great views on a beautiful day.

After being wary of the glass bottom gondola this definitely didn’t seem to bother Kaela

That’s our boat!

We met back up at the hotel and took a shuttle over to the boat for what was a pretty smooth boarding process all things considered. \240(Getting lunch was less smooth).

It was an 85 degree day but we didn’t think to carry our bathing suits on so the kids went swimming in their clothes after lunch while Brady napped in his stroller. \240

At 5pm we were off!

By Seattle, see you next Monday!

We fed the kids at the buffet and successfully dropped them off at kids club at 7pm so we could enjoy dinner and drinks as grown ups. \240They were all up way too late but Julian and Kaela had fun at “camp”. \240

Day 2 - at Sea

Day 3 - Sitka

Day 4 - Icy Point Straight

Nice breakfast in the main dining room. \240Finally got some avocado and berries. \240Kids love their chocolate chip pancakes. \240We got off the boat - two cruise ships docked literally in an island with nothing to do. \240Her paid $50 a person to get to the top of the gondola only to be told we couldn’t hike. \240They were taking groups of 40 every 40 minutes because of bears. \240Sigh. \240At least the views were nice. \240

We came back down and took the trail to the other beach area. \240Pretty area but really nothing to do and with 7K people or more from two cruise ships in port the line for everything was super long. \240

As usual the beach was their favorite part. \240

Back to the boat for lunch (thank god for gluten free pizza for K) \240since there were no realistic options on shore. \240

Morning Glacier and Juneau

Today we were up at 5:45 to look at the glacier. \240It was a beautiful sunny morning - really almost too sunny to get decent pictures once the sun came up! \240We made the wise decision to let the kids sleep in and went to the top deck until the ship reached the glacier and turned around and then to Clete & Sherry’s balcony to watch from there. \240

The boys in our family had breakfast with a view while the rest of us went to the main dining room.

After breakfast Clete and Julian tried out the indoor skydiving and Clete, Julian and I did the rock climbing.

Brady liked sitting in the bumper cars until he started melting down. \240Everyone was definitely tired. \240

After lunch we docked in Juneau. \240We walked around the town for a while and learned that the state capital building is the least pretty of all 50 states. \240

Statue of William Seward who negotiated the purchase of Alaska. \240

Cotton candy for the kids (because Julian beat Daddy up the stairs) and oysters and champagne for mommy

Then we got on our trolly/bus (that was made in Wisconsin) to go to Mendenhall Glacier. \240We walked to Nugget Falls, the kids played on the beach, then we went to the glacier lookout point and saw some salmon.

Look at it upside down!

We got back on the bus in time for Julian to remember he left his new camelback by the rocks… we were all upset. \240

We made a final stop to see a humpback whale statue also from Wisconsin before we went back into town for a delicious crab dinner. \240

An exhausted family watched the boat push back from shore before going to bed. \240Julian wanted to include that he fell and hit his head (Brady did earlier as well) but everyone will be better after a good nights sleep. \240
