She’s started as she means to go on. \240Xx
It’s that time of year again, when it gets cold and grim in London, tone to get outta here, off to some serious heat.
Thailand and Cambodia this time.
Arrived here in Bangkok, decent flight, apart from the guy next to me forgot that he’d set his phone alarm and then went straight to sleep, small pain on the ass but I just woke him up.. any ways, here we are, 13th floor of the chatrium riverside, nice hotel, good room with kitchen (?), a view and living room.. seen a lot of Bangkok before, so would think half sightseeing and half pool recovery.
No jet lag, both slept well enough, grabbing some food in a sec
Bit of a tricky nights sleep, jet lag obv, anyway lovely day for messing about on the water. Took the local river boat up stream for about 49 mins, wandering around the back packers district, actually ok, some ok looking cafès.
Tickets 15THB each, around 40p
Stumbled upon a exhibit in on of the national parks, no clue what for, went in to a show, some anniversary of the Kings crowning, dull nationalism stuff, anyway 30 mins in air con not the worst.
Back on the boat, time for the pool me thinks
Who can resist a happy hour
Nice sunset, temp doesn’t change much though, still 32c
Pre dinner beer on top of our hotel.
After much deliberation, decided on Chinatown for dinner, 2 mins wandering around then the sky opened, as it does here, sheet rain, they’re well prepared for it, even the little stalls have tarpaulins at the ready.. paused with a quick drink whilst ot past.
Found a nice bar/restaurant with live music, standard tunes, all ok though.
Jet lag has its benefits, saw the sunrise on my way to the gym.. ahh
Back on the boat, quick tour of downtown, hot & humid as usual
Can’t have too many selfies can you ¿
Closest Marion would get to driving out here
Spent the rest of the day enjoying the sun by the pool, quick happy hour cocktail before setting off for dinner
Found a Japanese izakaya, good food, not really an izakaya atmosphere though, usually buzzing and a bit dark, this was too sanitised..
Moving day part 1, early start, out of the hotel by 7, still Had time for a tasty Asian breakfast though..we’re off to Cambodia today, Siem reap, to see the temples of Ankor
Where is everyone? Has to be the quietest airport on Asia, not complaining, obv.
How about this for a hotel pickup car, vintage Mercedes, very cool
Good hotel, boutique style. Decent sized room, has it’s own small garden and pool
About to hit the town, hotel drives you around in these things, called a Remorque, basically a carriage bolted onto a moped, sure it’s really safe, anyway, no one can go more than 25 miles per hour as the roads are manic, definitely no rules, but no one seems to get annoyed, just accepts it as the way it is.
Restaurant called Spoons tonight, don’t think it’s affiliated to weatherspoons but could be wrong.. very good, potions could have been bigger for me, but hey ho.
So here we are in the massive Ankor temple complex , all 400 sq miles of it ! Where to start, looking on ypthe map all the temples look like they’re maybe a 10 walk from each other, but then they tell you it’s a 15 min moped ride between them. And there’s 46 of them, where do we start..thankfully for you I’m not gonna name them all, this is Ta Phrom, the one where the trees have taken over, amazing, these 200 year old trees living in the walls.
Can’t tell if the tree is holding up the temple or the other way around.
Hard to describe how big these really are
Errm, no excuse for this
Or this!
The main temple out of the whole 46, Ankor Wat, again, massive, again, impressive, and over 1,000 years old, the temple that is.
Tired after a long day temple-bashing.. confused as well, haven’t done much homework on where to go in the evening, hotel 10 mins from the centre but no money in a Tim tuk thing.. wandering around not hungry enough to make a choice, settled on a local restaurant, decent enough, seafood stir fry, garlic greens, and a few other dishes, beers again 40p each, cocktails just over £1, and very good, green peppercorn Martini, yumm.
Day of rest by the pool, not super hot with clear skies, overcast and about 28c.. poor us
Quick beer at our ‘local’, the brothers, never worked out if they were ever there or not, but anyway, Nice little bar, full of both locals and tourists, beers 40p, yes, 40p, and perfectly decent lager (Ankor Beer)in a well chilled glass, very nice.
Siem Reap town, to be honest hasn’t changed since it’s backpacker days, pretty tacky, and gaudy.but we’d read about an upcoming, hipster type area, so we went, well it is still upcoming, has potential, but.. we did find a great Mexican restaurant, air too many tacos (always find them hard to judge, small but filling), Marion found the cocktails.
Back home on a tuktuk
Hired a tuktuk for the day, decided to go to the one furthest away, read ups sounded lovely, however, an hour and a bit to get there in the back of a tuktuk is hard to take, this first picture was early on !
Once we’d arrive, well , it’s a bit, small, very nice, nice red colours and intricate carving but, we’d been in the back of a cart for over an hour, could have done better..
Back to the main temples, just in time for a summer monsoon..roads into rivers type rain
Blue pacamac’s, they’re all the rage darling.
A little bit later, tried again to explore, nice to have the temples to ourselves, wonder why.
Had to treat ourselves tonight after all that rain and dodgy travel, so went to a Michelin restaurant in town, 7 course (!) tasting menu.
All the dishes we’re small but delicious
Surprisingly filling, but unsurprisingly extremely tasty
And to finish off.
Here we go again
Wow, WTF, music , well a local for, of what can loosely be classed as music, BLASTING out at 6o’c in the morning, nightmare. Thought was a passing thing, gave it some time, but no, the hotel tell us the neighbors have a wedding, nice I hear you say, \240oh no, Cambodian weddings go on for 2 or 3 days, and start at 5 or 6 in the morning, all day long, until 10 at night, all day long music blaring, to distortion levels...guess it’s an early trip to the temples..
Back in the Remouqe, sun promised all day !
More tall trees eating at the temple walls
As amazing as the temple is outside, it comes into its own inside, the shadows give them drama, here’s Marion, posing again .x
Bit of a variety of temples today, this one’s in the middle of a lake
Had to walk 500m along a bridge way to get there
Back to more older styles
Greater by more wedding music on our return
Pizza night, bit knackered, so early pizza, tut shopping in the market and back to the room for a Netflix show
Ate in Pub st, yep, as nice as it sounds ! Actually not too bad, looks much worse with all the Benidorm neon signs, but it’s ok, not stupid shot bars everywhere.
Found a pharmacy for earplugs, fingers crossed...
Earplugs worked, horray.. full 8 hours rest, ready for some sun, finished with the temples.
Weather hasn’t let us down. Best day so far, it’s Hot hot hot.. full day by the pool, earplugs by our side..
zero pics though, forgot, soz.
After a relaxing day round the pool, time for some food.
Local restaurant, always busy when we’ve past it, BBQ, do it yourself style, not he place you get dressed up for, smokey, loud, hot.. and good food.
Cheezy photo, not posing obv
So we had.. some beef (in chilli), prawns, onions, spring onions, carrots, cucumbers and green mango...
Cooked to perfection..
Washed down with a few beers, very good.
Last night in siem reap, had to have one more in our local, the brothers..
Singapore slinging
Cheezy beer pic
$4, 2 cocktails and 2 beers.. rip off
So what did we think of Siem Reap, temples were as good as hoped for, not a lot else around really, could have gone to a floating market which probably decent. Cheapest country we’ve been to, unbelievably so at times. It’s trying to shake off its backpacker image, has a few big international hotels, that will upgrade it, overall liked it, as long as you remember it’s still a developing country still.
Pain in the neck moving day, 4oc in the afternoon flight back to Bangkok, fly into one airport but fly out of the other at 9oc in the morning! Booked into a hotel near the take off airport , all nice modern and clean, forgot that a hotel near an airport will probably have a lot of noise from the aircraft, however not really a problem, don’t what the whining is all about from those that live under the Heathrow flightpath ! Err.
Bar the rooftop of the hotel, not 40p a beer though.
Longish trip today, from BKK airport to Koh Samui, then by boat to Koh Phangan to hopefully be picked up by the yoga resort.. feel ready for some exercise, been 8 days or so of walking and stuff, bit of sweat will do us some good. The resort of vegetarian and booze free, sure we can find some normal outside! If we’re allowed, ha.
Ferry your typical catamaran fast boat type, stuffy, smells of fuel.. mixed bunch of passengers, plenty of European backpacks, a hoard of older/ruder Chinese and what looks like later life 5 star travelers..
Ferry port
Enjoying the trip
Yoga place, Wonderland healing centre !, ok, hard to judge fairly as is chucking it down..
Had an hour and a half Yin yoga session, good way to start, holding the poses for longer, not one of those fitness sessions, those are to come. The dude taking the class was playing some small steel drum type instrument, looked like it was gonna be proper naff, but was good.. I’m getting too into this..
View from our room, after the rain.
Outside our crib, we’re in the penthouse, well, 1st floor, they’re ok, urban industrial chic crossed with traditional Thai wood..
This is the restaurant building, can’t see it that well but large buffet, some communal floor seating or table set-up, um, and a few normal tables for those of us who don’t want to talk about the meaning of life or your inner chakras
Sample of the buffet, vegan, obv, but very nice, fresh, and tasty
Frame this one, no alcohol in this !
It’s like a drink, but without the numbing sensation
8oc start for and 1 1/2 hour hatha session, quite sedate, not bad buffet breakfast, all vegan of course, did make Marion’s coffee taste a bit odd, need to find the right ‘milk’. Then my 1st ever Pilates class, I like, good exercise.. Hired a moped to Mrs M’s delight, hehe.. didn’t have long to look about, but struggled to find the beaches ¿ more the access to the beaches, sure we’ll work it out, anyway found one, not ‘the’ one, but a start.. back here for an inversion yoga class, basically, upside down, was ok, teacher a bit of a jerk.
2 more hour and a half yoga sessions this morning, suns out, time to hit the beach, went North to Malibu Beach, 15 mins on the ped
Classic bent palm tree lined beach with perfect softwhite sand, free of rubbish, just fallen coconuts.. very very nice
Old swingers, err
Bit of shade as well
Very nice, and the beach
That’s me in the distance..
Flipped beaches later on, sun going behind us, moved access the bay to haad khom beach, stunning again, not many people, had cottages on the beach which looked basic but very nice way to spend a week or so..
More swinging palms
And the new James Bond Isn’t !!
Xx
Finally worked out how to slip the guards of the wonderland healing center.. snuck out under cover of darkness, managed to find a cab and we hat the town, dropped off at a shitty tourist market but found a decent bar to have a cold one or two..we’ve moved on to Leo beer, same as all the other Asian beers, lovely when ice cold..
Eventually found a food court, not hungry but had the most tasty Indian spinach dosa, very good
Rocker chick.
Hey.. early yoga session, in a outdoor shala, decent workout but marred by a few bits, not sure is ant or flying thing.
Left Marion to go to the second session on her own, I got a bike and went for an few hill climbs for an hour or so.
Day out today, starting at the Khao waterfalls, quietly impressive, didn’t expect much at all but should have guessed judging by the size of the mountain we had to climb, we probably got half way up but had more than enough exercise already today.
I touch chilly
Can’t get throw post without a few selfies these days..
New beach for us on the south coast, got a bit lost, island a lot bigger than I’d thought beforehand.. used a nice resort’s facilities, sun beds on the beach, it’s getting very hot now, especially in the afternoons, no wind, probably mid 35 c, don’t feel to bad for us though, we’re coping.
Tan’s coming along nicely
Artistic shot..
2 yoga sessions first thing, quick dash to the beach, want to get back for the 4.30 sesh, making it 4 and a half hours today..
Our schedule for the next few days.. repeat after me, OMmmmmm, OMmmmmm.
Can’t wait for rebirthing on Tuesday night..
A few pics of the place
No storage, that’s my excuse
Nice balcony
Restaurant building
Random
Restaurant area again
Wow wow wow.. bestest beach so far.. Koh-ma beach, north west tip of Koh Phangan island, horseshoe bay with a sand bar splitting the sea leading to a jungle covered island..
Quick coconut to get us going
Cheezy selfie
Decent view for a lunch I guess
Hard to do it justice, soft white sand as well, lovely
Great view, and the beach isn’t bad either
The other side of the bay..
Anyone thinking of coming here there is a great cheap resort here, £30 a night for the room, called Koh Ma beach resort, modern, very clean, great pool, right on this fantastic beach, wish we knew beforehand.
Hehehehehe
Moving day again, cab driver tried to explain why the trip was the price it was, only a 10 mile journey but... up and down a few mountains, tricky roads, 40 mins late....
I say cab driver, here they’re pickup trucks with a canopy over then and padded planks for seats, not kind on the old booty, luck 30+ hours of yoga has toughened that up...
Nice ride
Long and wind roads..
Worth the journey through, look at the view from the breakfast area....
Think we’re gonna like it here
Here’s our room at the Santhiya hotel, well more little villa really, nice little pool as well..
Nice details around the hotel, all the water holders have plants or petals in
It’s a beautiful each, super soft sand, goes on for ages, a few beach front restaurants and bars, but not many, good vibe to the place
That’s our hotel behind Marion, we’re a bit to the the left of that building, I think.
Sunset happy hour, just up the beach from our hotel, great view, cold Singa’s, Bon.
Not hungry, so had a few snacks in Rasta baby bar, all good, old school Reggae playing..
Full moon, flat sea, nice pic.. \240on the other side of the island they have the famous full moon party’s on the beach, not for us though, thanks.
Here’s our room, nice, not too far up the very steep hill, very jungle-y, a few mossies up here, but not too bad..
Very Thai, all reclaimed wood, nicely done
From bathroom to bedroom
Out to the ‘town’ walk along the beach first..
Went local, Pad Thai, Tod Man Goong (spicy lemongrass prawn soup), red curry ( hot hot).
Quick cocktail before bed.. x
We’re just over half the way through the holiday already, gone quickly but seen loads, and feeling good..
The breakfast restaurant has a great view
Buffet spread excellent
Food everywhere
Yumm
When in Rome..
Nice touches
Everywhere you walk you can smell orchids, they’re planted all over the place..
Another day another pool, this one up the hill, by the ‘cheap’ rooms...
Bit odd, the sunbeds are in boats in the pool, gotta be careful with your phone..
Hehe, looks good eh ?
Sunbathing day round the pool, grabbed a coconut for lunch at the next beach
This place is hilly, I mean really hilly, they have shuttle buses to take you to your room but we prefer to walk, each time = a beer in my mind
Refreshing dip to cool down, haven’t used the pool much, bit too much shade and a few mossies spoil it a touch
Just one happy hour beer, it’s so nice, can hear the crashing waves, temp still nearly 30c, what’s not to like
Wanted to go to the nice restaurant in town, but it was so empty couldn’t bring ourselves to go in, so went local again, getting a bit bored of Thai food, too one dimensional, anyway, had tamarind fish, was pretty good.
One for the road at Rasta baby, cute kitten there..
Pool baby, sun baby, not a lot of pics though..
Pre dinner Cocktails
Dinner beers
Local food court tonight, nice fresh food, cooked to order, had papaya salad (extra hot), tofu pa si eyu (flat rice noodles), lab (minced chicken, not hot enough), all good.
And for desert, mango rice, super yumm, sweet coconut rice with ripe mango, my new favourite pudding..
Morning by the pool, but booked a boat for this afternoon, to take us to a nearby beach for some snorkelling and swim the sea.. took us hear, Haad Khoi beach, it’s a \240beauty...
Only when we walked to the other end of the beach, did we realise we’ve already been here (on the 9th, via moped)... still not the worst !
Child.
Beer with a view whilst we waited for our boat.. there are bungalows on the beach, look very cool, they’re £50 a night, right on the beach.. coconut beach resort
Leaving our local pub
The island is all granite, so has these massive boulders everywhere
Beauty
Love seeing coconut palms along the crest of the hills
Beast..
Moving day.. what a shame, had a fantastic time here in Ko Pha-ngan, beautiful island, had excellent weather as well, couldn’t recommend it enough, go North though, south too touristy.. as mentioned before, would happily stay in some of the beach huts, the new ones are modern and very nice.
Chose to get the hotel speedboat direct to our koh samui hotel, much more civilised.
Orange is soo your colour baby
Arrived in our new hotel, Bo Hut resort, in Bo Hut, Koh Samui.nice, welcome, with a Flower bouquet and drink. Hotel nice, room good, but it’s nowhere near as good as the previous one..
Bit of a confession, Koh Samui is the place I’ve been looking forward to the least, so my comments over the next few days may be a bit, well, biased.
So hear we are, 10 minutes since getting to the room and the sky’s open, told you it is rubbish here.
It’s stopped p’ing down..so let’s go explore, we’re off to fisherman’s Village, rest, cool shops, a few bars, 15 min walk away..
Hotel front
Lobby
One good thing about here , is, as it’s a mature tourist place, the variety of restaurants is better, not great , but better, so, Indian ! Tasty curry.. Prawn sizzling spicy one, fish madras, sag paneer, yummm.
Mmmm
Look who’s had a cocktail too many, charming company.
Grr. More rain today.. cleared up a bit by lunchtime, went for a wander, nothing interesting to report.. coffee in a nice cafe next to a broken pier, like Brighton but on a smaller scale.
Pleased to report some good news, the market has arrived, outdoor food stalls, lots of live music. Settled in a cool pop up bar with a singer, singing mainly britpop in a Thai accent. \240An grab your food from the stalls and eat at the pop up bar.
Was busy when we got here
Later went to the beach for some more substantial grub.. pick your fish and well cook it how you’d like..
Tiger prawns and squid for us, both grilled please.. and, our first chips of the holiday ! Tut tut
Let’s explore, hired a car from a lovely thai lady in the local shop, let’s see some of the island
Err.. \240nothing to see here.. mountain in the middle of the island, road goes completely round the outside, hogging the beach, basically ruining the whole coastline, it’s all developed, poor planning.
Off to the only shopping mall tonight, see what they’ve got..
It’s pretty good, a few stalls as well, quite nice, went for Japanese, really good food..
And mango sticky rice for dessert, yumm.
First things first, Marion’s not wearing the same dress 2 days in a row, I needed a pic of the car for the last blog posting, so used on from today, honest.
More looking around, went to big Buddha, it’s not that big. But a few nice views..
Shiny
Oops, picked the wrong day to wear a yellow dress.
Cool coffee bar on the way home, had these trampoline type beds supported over the beach, lovely views
Been a while since we had a selfie
Might just be able to see big Buddha over my right ear (still not very big)
Last night in Samui, and it’s the big food market night near our hotel.. live music, lots of food stalls..
Octopus for us please
It’s yummy, maybe not looking but tasting..
Thai version of Yaki onagiri, not as good, but very passable.
And 90 Baht cocktails, that’s just over £2, and they’re very good, can actually taste the booze unlike most cheap cocktails..Mojito for Marion
And a caiprahinia for me...I say a but it might have been a few more than that..
Nothing like a bit of ladyboy dancing on a Friday night..
More food, at a Ibiza style beachfront bar/restaurant, best pizza I’ve had for ages..
More drinks..
For both of us
Before ending up at the pop up music bar, lively tonight,
Ended up as a karaoke session with the band, I ruined Queens ‘don’t stop me now ‘, shame no pics..
Got in a 1.30ish, early flight tomorrow, have to be up at 7...grr.
Made it to the airport, off to ChiangMai in northern Thailand..
I feel good...
Arriving somewhere hungover is not good for for judgment.. wanted to check straight out of the hotel, a lot further from the town centre than I had thought, felt angry with my choice, actually, writing this a day later, it’s actually ok, bed good, breakfast nice, easy to in and out of town using Grab (Asian Uber) for a couple of quid..
Saturday night market tonight, it’s massive, goes on forever, Chiangmai doesn’t feel like the rest of Thailand, more laid back, the stuff on sale is hand crafted, not the tourist crap you usually get... I like..
Me outside the silver temple, this plac has temples on every corner, amazing looking ones as well..this one 100% silver from floor to rooftop.. women not allowed in, I’ll leave it to you to make your own jokes up why.
Enough of the market, hectic, the bus lot of Chinese tourists arrived, nightmare.
Small bar on the corner where all the action is, playing jazz with a hip hop backing track, cool.
Dinner later on, fish curry, spicy.. nice restaurant called ’see you soon.’ Lots of hipster drinks and modern twist on Thai food.
Seafood soup for Marion. Tom yam goong its called.
Temple bashing.. temperature here deceptive, dryer but still hot, easy to underestimate the strength of the sun. Thought we’d do some Wat viewing (temple): this one’s Pan Aon, love a bit of gold does this one.
Look at it, glinting in the sun..
Quick Christmas decoration..
Another gold one, Pan Tao I think.
They’re busy but all had quiet places to cool down.
One of the largest Wats, Chedi Luang, big auditorium with a big Buddha, maybe yellow wasn’t the right colour today Marion, looks like you’ve come dressed as a golden Buddha, small one, not big..
More of chedi luang, \240notice the elephants ..
Emerald Buddha, also at chedi luang.
Mocktail ! Yes, no alcohol..
A smaller and quiet Wat, had a nice pond with catfish, large lily pads and a very rickety bridge, sure it was a test of our faith by Buddha, he’s so wise..
The monks laundry room..
Lots of photos today. Thailand has lots of elephant parks, most you ride them and they’re not brilliantly looked after, this place rescues some of those elephants, also ones from circuses and logging companies (now banned in Thailand but still used in Burma). They currently have 8 , we walked with 6.. amazing how free it was, just following them, patting the, and seeing what they do in a natural environment.
1st we got the feed them, they get pretty excited here..
Then we walked them, through jungle and in the hills, not sure how long for, \240 \240 \2401 1/2 hours maybe, up close all the time
Height of fashion
The beast, and an elephant
Cute
True love
Found someone who laughs at my jokes..
Rested after the elephants, off to a trendy part of Chiang mai, an area called Nimman, let’s see.
Quick pic at our hotel
Christmas is coming (1 month exactly), although at 32c maybe it doesn’t feel like it yet..
It’s cool, quick rooftop craft beer
Food courts everywhere, we sort of cocked it up, went for a rooftop Japanese, but was a bit avg, so had a snack there, then a snack in a Korean place as well, again, wasn’t great, anyway we had fun..
Ended with mango sticky rice again, our new habit.
Quiete day, spent the morning enjoying the blue skies, gonna \240soon be finished for us.
Then a bit more, gentle, temple bashing, started back at the silver one.
All silver
Women not allowed inside, so here’s a sneak viewing for you ladies..
Treat for us of salted coconut ice cream
Then on to the next temple, a biggie, more elephants..
Ahh
Electric tuktuk, a few about town, it’s the future boys and girls..
The proud driver
Christmas..
More craft beers, back in Nimman again..
Ate at a nice little tapas bar, forgot to take any pics though...
Not long left now, so a day in the sun before finding a posh restaurant for an early dinner.
Restaurant was called the house, just on the border of the old town, collection of 3 buildings, all the same restaurant but didn’t appear to talk to each other... had a lot of confusion with the waiters, no one spoke decent enough English, funny really, but food was good and not rushed so all good.. I had a scallop curry.
Marion a crab omelet type of dish
Quick drink in the way home.. x
Hired a little car to bum around, went up to Doi Suthep temple, up in the hills.. very nice.
They love gold
Nice view, should have come at sunset...
Beautiful day again.
Followed up by a trip to the local fresh food market, the place where the restaurants and food stalls get this produce, reassuringly good, amazing variety of fresh fruit and veg.
Lemon grass, turmeric, galangal...
Chilli”s af all sizes
Delivery boy
Jack fruit anyone
Or maybe a pineapple
Happy new year everyone xx
Still had the car, so went back to Nimman to wander around and grab a bite to eat..they’re elephant crazy here, this is Marion outside the elephant parade shop..
Food court time, nice one inside a designer shopping arcade, papaya salad to start..
Found a small Korean restaurant, for our main course, iced tea for me
And Korean chicken wrapped in lettuce leaves..
With, obv, sticky mango rice for something sweet..
Saw this stall in the way back to the car, look great seafood, shame, quite fancied crab.
Last night in Chiang mai, so stayed around the pool during the day then into the old town for dinner.. went local, nice, if touristy, Thai restaurant, with good local dishes, in a old Thai style building.. which chillis would you like ? Top are spicy and in a type of vinegar.. next are fire hot in Thai fish sauce, and bottom your run of the mill chilli flakes..I’ll take all 3 please
Khao saui for Marion, really tasty, chicken with 2 types of noodles, shallots in a spicy coconut milk sauce..with extra chillis obv.
I went for a wide noodle dish with seafood and veg, needed the red hot chillis to wake it up
Cheeky cocktail before bed..
Moving day, overnight train from Chiang mai to Bangkok, 13 hours..
Nice retro station, not busy, think we’re the only train departing
Cool
Modern train, really long, think something like 19 carriages.. we’re in 1st class sleeper, obviously..
Ahh
Private compartment, all good
Same same
Dinner on board, looks bland but actually pretty good, green curry, veg, rice and a bit of fruit..
Shame, the air conditioning on the train was soo cold, kept waking up during the night, otherwise would highly recommend it, good adventure.
Arrived at 7oc in the morning in Bangkok, staying at the banyan tree, tried to check in very early, and they were great, gave us a room straight away, but was a smoking rooom, so asked them to change, didn’t have a like for like room , so upgraded to a suite, very posh..
Pool’s on the 21st floor, like the view..
And from our room on the 31st floor
Christmas ! Pipped Christmas songs everywhere, doesn’t feel right.
Last day today, been a great time, flight’s not until midnight, so have some time to relax and get ready..
Mid morning walk through Lumphini park, bit of green in the middle of the madness of Bangkok. Obviously met a 5 foot lizard walking through the park... nice picture with our hotel in the background.
The hotel let us stay and use the facilities, pool, gym, free drinks, woohoo..
Last sunset on the 61st floor rooftop bar of our hotel. What a sunset.
All done, thank you Bangkok, Thailand and Cambodia..
Where next. X
