Woohoo - first day of non masking at the airports!

No bumps along the way, we had a seamless flight - thanks American Airlines!

Checked into our hotel with his view!

After all that time sitting, we decided to walk to the downtown French and historical market area and had a light dinner at Meeting at Market.Tulips hanging from the roof - interesting.

A little goofiness along the way. Doesn’t everyone carry an orange flag?

Went for a walk past the row houses. All different colors.

Honeysuckle everyone - the air spelled good.

Walked down the cobblestone streets to be near the water and Found a local beer and wine place to purchase some wine to come back to the room - building was from 1636 and was really quaint!

Ended with a final glass of wine at The Oyster House - of course we had a few oysters and an oyster shooter.

Charleston Day 2 - we were busy! We started at the Downtown Charleston Market - kind of reminded me of the New Orleans Market - it is open 364 days a year and has a lot of venders selling food items, jewelry, art and Tee even bought a pair of shoes.

Had a light lunch at Tbonz and then went on a carriage ride. Here are some of the historic buildings we saw.

We walked down this alley - cute and shaded.

And then the highlight of our day- a 2.5 hour walking food tour. Blake from Bulldog tours, a native of the area, was our tour guide and amazing!

Started at Tbonz and had a shrimp dip and Brussels sprouts.

Stop two was a spice and tea store, where we tried several different spices and orange olive oil. We also tried pimento cheese - apparently is is a big thing in this area.

Stop three landed us back at the Oyster house where we tried shrimp and grits along with she crab soup. These are another popular dish here! And a bonus of pimento cheese with hush puppies and praline butter.

Stop four - really, can we eat anymore??? \240Poogans Smoke House for South Caroline BBQ - apparently it is all the same - pulled pork. It was good. Served with a side of collard greens and hot corn bread.

This was our group - just one other couple from Canada. \240Final stop was to pick up a praline for dessert 😳

Ended our long day on our patio watching the sun set.

Started our day at 167 Raw Oyster bar for lunch. Oysters of course! Scallops for Tee and Katherine, lobster roll for Diane and tuna sandwich for Theresa. And some fancy smancy cocktails.

Yummy!

We meandered down the street to Battery Park and a little history lesson. Great house watching - cool historic homes.

Fort Sumptner from afar.

We found it - the pineapple fountain!

Vendue hotel - cool place to pop into. The bottom floor is an art gallery.

And the top floor a rooftop bar!

Beautiful flower beds in this city!

Ended up at Magnolia for dinner - go here!!! \240We had the best fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs. Tee had a steak topped with pimento cheese for dinner, a fried chicken breast for wifey, salads and shrimp and grits for T and K.

Last but not least, view of the sunset from our own rooftop bar. After putting up with the fire alarms going off - that will make you hard of hearing!

Another fun day in Charleston! Visited the beautiful Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Short 30 minute ride away, but a step back in time.

From afar.

One of the ponds and bridges.

This one was peaceful and did not have an alligator.

Lots of flowers abound.

Some big ass trees!

Nice entrance.

Blue heron.

Up close - undergoing a little construction.

On the porch on a toggling bench - it rocks side to side.

Enslaved quarters.

For night time fun, we took a dinner cruise along th water. Nice night for it. And the food was really good - sea crab soup, salad and shrimp and grits or braised short ribs.
