Day 1 London

Arrived In London at the Contiki headquarters . I checked into my room at the royal national hotel . Was so excited but also nervous . I was upgraded to a better room.

Afterwards I headed downstairs to meet with a fellow trip member that I had met on the chat page of the Contiki website. Then there was a walking tour around London. Definitely recommend even if England is your hometown. After the tour there was free time and spend time with new friends . We stumbled across this underbelly festival where I introduced my new friends from America , Canada and South Africa to pimms

Next we took a nice walk along by the London eye. Being the only One that had been to London before and the fact I live near London I was given the role of the tour guide.

We then all had pizza express for dinner and heated back to our room for a good nights sleep as had to be outside the royal National Hotel for 6am denture on the coaches

Day 2 London - Amsterdam

Our journey started at 6:30 am when the contiki coach tour headed towards Dover to get a ferry . You meet with your tour guide and driver for the duration of the trip . More bonding with your group happens as we get off the coach onto the ferry

Being on a coach means every couple of hours the driver has to rest . Our tour guide Kristy certinely knows the best service stations on the way to Amsterdam.

It was so windy but we were so amused by this thing.

The first service station I have seen that is so colourful and fresh fruit everywhere

We just had to take a group selfie

After a long 5 hours we finally arrivdee in Amsterdam . Our tour guide had written a detailed plan for us while we were there . Every tour guide will have different ideas and tips but this will give you an idea of what to expect.

The hotel in Amsterdam was superb. The golden Tulip riverside. I asked for a single room as wasn't sure about the whole Sharing with someone i didn't know and I certainly did not regret my decision I liked having my own space. The only thing with the hotel is it is quite far away from the city centre so you either go with the coach or get a taxi .

After having around a hour to settle in to the hotel and freshen up after a long coach ride. The whole group set of to an included dinner in the hotel. The food was really decent was a buffet style . Loads of choice .

Then one of the free time add on (That is not included in the price ) was a canal cruise at night. I definitely recommended doing this was so much fun. Was a great way to engage and meet your fellow trip mates.

Drinks were included . Weather you wanted a soft drink or something alcoholic it was unlimited . This drink below is a typical Amsterdam shot 10% and the challenge is not to use your hands when you drink it . And put the lid of the nose .

As it can be seen it is not as easy as it looks . Was such a laugh though .

Next stop after the cruise you had an option to go back to the hotel on the coach or to explore Amsterdam and get a taxi back .

I decided to stay out and explore the nightlife . Some of my fellow group tested out the weed cafe that is legalised there that isn't really my scene but I went with them just didn't try any. Then before heading back to the hotel we had The Most amazing sweet treat.

Day 3 Amsterdam - Rhine Valley

The next day was an early start had to be at breakfast by 6:30am That is the thing with contiki just remember if you go out partying or have a late night . You have to be on the coach when it saids it is leaving as otherwise you will have to make your own way to the next destination.

Breakfast had a lot of choice and is free

Then after breakfast the coach took us to the City centre of Amsterdam where we had 3 hours or so to explore before we headed off to the Rhine Valley. I recommend planning what you want to do in this free time \240with some friends you have met as time is limited .

As a small group we decided that we wanted to try the famous avocado cafe so we researched how to get there beforehand

Definitely recommend was really nice food . But I really should not of eaten so much for breakfast.

Next up we took a stroll along the canals and the main shopping street befo heading back to the coach

The next stop Rhine Valley

It was about 6 hours to get to Rhine valley. Long coach rode but most of the time is spent sleeping , chatting , groups games organised by tour guides . The service station again was very fancy.

Below is a breakdown of what's happening. The hotel is too small and narrow to take suitcases so just need an overnight bag. And suitcases will be left on Coach

The room/hotel was very basic and small. And very old fashioned the only hotel I stayed In that had an old fashioned key

This is why you need a overnight bag. Can you imagine carrying your suitcases up these?

After we checked In had a hour free time before an included dinner . This was just enough time to explore as the town is one street with barley any shops

Dinner was probably the nicesest incluled meal of the trip. Traditional food.

Next was a add on extra that I recommend doing wine tasting (price) which was wine from the Rhine valley and the option to purchase and take home

There was a bar that you could drink at In the hotel or me and a friend decided to take a walk along the river. Which was very picturesque.

Day 4 Rhine Valley - Munich

Included continental and cooked breakfast. About a 5 hour journey to Munich

The hotel was lovely very modern. But basic . Again was out of town centre

After had checked in my friend and I decided the included bike tour wasn’t for us . So we decided to go off on our own and explore Munich by foot.

Wandering around the streets is so pretty

We found a nice little church.

We then tried on some of the Tradational dresses . This was so much fun , no photos were allowed but we managed to sneak one

We also went in a photo booth in urban outfitters

The previous year my dad had already visited Munich and reccomended this restaurant . So we decided to try it was lovely . Reccomended if you want traditional German food

We then met up with the rest of our group at the hofbrauhaus house . Where you can get giant beers or if you are not a big fan of beer like me then you can get a radler which is beer and lemonade. The idea of this place is to sit on benches and chat to people . This is where Hitler went

At 9:15 we got the coach back. You could of stayed out longer

Day 5 Munich - Insbruck - Venice

Munich to Insbruck Austria is about 2hrs. Arrived at 9.00pm It is a short walk to the town centre.

The streets are so pretty . And unique . One of \240my favourite places of the trip.

When we arrived there was free entry into the Swarovski museums and shop. Which was an eye opener so expensive to purchase anything but was so lovely.

Next we either had free time until 2:30 ish. Or you could do a free time add which was a mountain ride which I recommend it was amazing . The views were fantastic .

Before the mountain trip there was some time to wander round.

Here the view are amazing even if the water is merky. But that is because of the snow constantly dropping of the mountains.

We had traditional food scnizial . Was delicious.

We then met the rest of our group and the tour guide for the mountain tour.

Love this photo . Was so relaxing and breathtaking .

Seeing snow in 30 degrees heat In June was incredible

I couldn't believe I was standing on snow in this Heat

Hardly any snow at this part of the mountain . But I am holding a snowball it wasn't even cold actually refereshing and it doesn't melt In my hand.

Recreating the sound of music

There is a restaurant you can get a drink and admire the views. And a hotel must be lovely to stay there.

At around 2:30 we left Insbruck which I was sad about as I would of love to spent longer there . But the next adventure was Venice. We arrived in Venice at 8pm so was a long journey.

Really nice hotel room . Was not In the centre of Venice was a train and a boat away.

We are here tonight \240for food not bad \240for an included dinner.

Then had some free time . I just had an early night .

At 8:15 was breakfast. Nice but simple breakfast

Day 6 Venice

8:15 was breakfast . We then got the train and ferry to st marks square the centre of Venice .

Here a group photo was take that you had the opportunity to purchase \240. St marks square and the persicaller is the worst part of \240the city that is sinking

There was then a option of some free time or you could do a walking tour of Venice . Which was good as it gave you an insight of the city . As Venice streets is know for getting lost . They say you have not experienced Venice unless you get lost in the streets . Also what was \240good was the tour guide showed us the best ice cream place . As quite a lot of ice cream in Venice isn’t real Italy ice cream

Such yummy ice cream and really nice wacky flavours

St marks square after getting ice cream we had some free time before our tour guide had organised a free lace talk .

We got some lunch . I know it doesn’t look apitising but it was really nice . Do not eat in st marks square it is very touristy and expensive .

The lace talk was quite interesting

Next was an optional free time add on . Gondala ride which is what Venice is famous for . Reccomend this add on \240.

Was a lot of fun . Such an eye opener to see how much the city is sinking .

After the gondala ride . The tour guide gave us the option to try some traditional Venice drinks . There was aperol spritz and bilins. We drank them on the street outside the bar .

Dinner was not included tonight so you could either find a restaurant yourself . Or you could have traditional Venice cuisine . The cost for this add on was

I \240reccomend this add on . Was one of the best nights of the trip . You choose in advance what you would like to get for the main course . The rest everyone gets the same starter and other dishes . Also wine and bilinis \240are included . And live entertainment .

Pasta can’t come to Italy and not have pasta .

Next course was this unusual black rice very unusual and was very salty .

This was the food option I got to choose . I choose chicken , veg and potatoes .

Then tiramisu . Which I am not a big fan off . But there was not a strong taste of coffee

After meal we got a boat and train back . That was the only way back to our hotel

After we got back to the hotel some of us went out to the local pub or you could get an early night .

Day 7 Venice - Lucern

Day 7 Lucern - Paris

Day 8 Paris

Day 9 Paris- London

Why I am doing this blog and a little bit about this trip

I did the European magic contiki tour

Free time adds on #noregrets . These are paid extras that you can do . Some are worth it some are not . If there is anything you do not want to do . Don’t feel like you have to . There will always be someone that doesn’t want to either . You can then explore the city some more and find something you are interested in
