Copenhagen

Felicity is 16 months today on our first full day in Copenhagen. It was a pretty sleepy start. We got to bed a little after midnight but Felicity wanted to wake up with the early northern sunrise around 5:45.

She and I sleepily nursed for about two hours. Then we woke up the boys so that we could all go out and get some breakfast. We walked and walked for about an hour, but couldn’t find a single thing!!! (Well we did find a castle.) Finally we found a bakery that had the best cinnamon roll/danish that I have EVER had. Yumm!!!

Then poor sleepy Felicity and Andrew went home for a nap. Gabriel and I slowly walked through the Rosenborg Slot gardens. The castle looked very uncomfortable from the outside.

Then we walked to Tivoli Gardens. It was a cute little amusement park. We went for a ride on the Ferris Wheel.

We got a bubble waffle ice cream and walked around the park.

Then we got burgers for lunch and headed home for nap right before it started to rain.

Right when we got home Felicity woke up and we got to have some very peaceful playtime, just the two of us. She is becoming so vocal :) She really likes the Kronor coins and points to her hand to show that she wants a coin there.

When Gabriel woke up we were going to go back to Tivoli but it was raining too much, so we went back to the Danish shop, then the food hall, then back home for an early bedtime :)

Roskilde

It was a really fun second day in Denmark. We grabbed another few cinnamon rolls at the same place. Then we walked to the train station right near Tivoli Gardens. It was a very well run train station. We popped right on our train.

Felicity made it very clear that she wanted her own seat next to Gabriel, so for two whole minutes before she wanted me to hold her again, Andrew and I got to sit together.

We arrived in Roskilde just as the farmers market started. We got bread, apples, cheese, and honey. So yummy.

Then, while munching our apples, we walked to a cathedral where all the old kings and queens are buried.

There was a beautiful beautiful statue that I loved, entitled “Love” by the same sculptor who made the little mermaid.

Then we continued walking to the Viking Museum. Right when we arrived there was a family guided tour in English. It was really fun. Andrew played the part of the trader Otta. And Gabriel got to be king :)

Then Gabriel and I painted a Viking shield.

Then we took a bus back to the train station. The train was packed full because it was the Pride parade today.

We got back for a quick late nap. When everyone was awake we went out to see the little mermaid statue.

Then had a very long walk home because all of the busses were delayed because of the parade.

Pizza for dinner. What a great day!

DragΓΈr

The morning started out pleasantly. When Felicity and I were halfway through nursing she really wanted to read the Peppa the Pig book that they have in our apartment. She says “Peppa” SO sweetly. She liked it when Dada Pig said “ho ho ho” :)

We walked to the Rosenberg Slot garden. Felicity and I played with the globe ball that we got in Brussels while Andrew and Gabriel went to get pastries.

Then Felicity and Andrew went back to nap while Gabriel and I took the bus to Dragor. When we first got to Dragor we had no clue how charming it was. We went straight out to the boats.

And walked around a bit. Then stopped at a restaurant right by the boats with mediocre fish and chips. I tried herring, but didn’t like it. I was wondering what all the fuss was about this place when we walked down a street (after playing in a playground by the water). Then I was in love. There were thatched roof houses. \240

And people eating lunch in their gardens. I could definitely retire here :)

Then we got an ice cream that Gabriel had patiently waited for while we had walked up and down the streets :)

We took the bus back to our apartment and had a nice naptime. Andrew stayed while Felicity and Gabriel were napping and I went to a fun coffee shop (with real candles burning on the tables in the dark room) to prepare a little bit for tomorrow’s meeting with Sune. Everyone was still napping when I got back.

When everyone woke up we had family cozy time in the living room. It was so much fun just to play together. Then Gabriel wanted to explore the back door of the apartment that leads down to a play structure in the middle of the apartments. \240We had fun playing out there. Felicity is fearless and Gabriel takes great pride in keeping her safe.

Then Andrew, Gabriel, and Felicity went out to get dinner while I had a really fun chit chat with Mommy.

Copenhagen

We had a cold rainy morning walk/bus to the Copenhagen Harbor. We checked out the pools in the canal. They looked very cold and mossy. I think we can skip that part of the top ten things to do in Copenhagen!

Then we went to the Royal Library hoping they would have a children’s section. They did not. But they pointed us to the central library. We had a very wet walk there. But once we got there is was heavenly. I miss having books to read to Gabriel and Felicity more than anything.

Then Andrew, Gabriel, and Felicity headed back to the apartment for early nap while I went to the book store, the drug store, and the bakery before my meeting with Sune.

Yumm.

I walked through the botanical gardens to get to the meeting. But got stuck so that when I arrived, I was just on time. Sune was very nice. But I’m awkward at first meetings!!!

When I got back to the apartment Felicity was still sleeping. When she woke up we played then went to the yummy vegan place that we went to last night and had lunch.

Then back for naps. Andrew headed out to get a beer. \240Felicity woke up first and we had some very sweet soft playtime together. She really likes the toys in this apartment. When she found Gabriel sleeping on the kitchen floor (his choice of location for nap!!!) she wanted to join him and rested her head on his pillow. It was SO sweet.

Then we all headed out for the cemetery where Hans Christian Anderson is buried. It really was a beautiful cemetery.

For dinner we got burgers - fast so we could get to sleep quickly. Now bedtime. Tomorrow, Florence!!
