We were hoping to beat traffic out of St Louis so we were going to grab a late lunch at Lotawata Creek.
Everyone enjoyed there meal, I got the mini pork chops and they were absolutely delicious!
We made it to Nashville just at sunset and the reflection on the skyline was so pretty.
At 11:39 we got to the Hyatt place hotel in Birmingham. \240I went into check in & everyone working the hotel and all the patrons were black. \240I started to question our hotel choice but at this point I just want to check in & be done. \240I had called at 8 or so to let them know we would be a late check in & they made a not on our reservation. \240When we got there - they did not have the room that we had booked. \240Kevin was furious. \240I tried to stay calm and see what sort of solution we could find - I know a complete flip flop of our traditional approaches to conflict! \240The lady helping me said they didn’t have the king room but they did have a handicap accessible room available with I thought double beds and a pull out couch which they would give us at a discount due to our inconvenience. \240
I said we would take it because I didn’t want to have to get these kids back in the car to go somewhere else. \240Next problem- I had paid Priceline for our room so I had to cancel it through them for me to get my refund. \240Fine, so after a few minutes try to get a contact number for them I finally got through and explained that the room we booked was not available and I needed a refund because the hotel was overbooked. \240He then had to put me on hold & call the hotel directly so they could confirm that they didn’t have a room available. In the process another family came in and they weren’t so lucky to be getting any room, they were headed out to look for a different option. \240After 14 min on hold with Priceline they agreed to refund my money pls $28 discount also for my inconvenience.I had paid $169 including taxes for our original room. More than I usually spend with Priceline but I knew that I would get a pullout couch too to accommodate us. \240The discount rate they gave me was $69 plus taxes etc. I think we came out good on this deal, at least we had a place to sleep.
We get into the room and it is 1 double bed and the pullout couch. \240Again, so tired we made pallets up on the floor for the kiddos and things were good, it was only 1 night after all. \240She did also include breakfast the next morning in our rate.
