Friday morning up at 4:30, left hotel by 5:40. Destination: Valdosta Georgia- want to beat the Atlanta rush!
Thursday left Troy after a day of work/daycare and headed out to Knoxville Tennessee!
Kids excited and asked “if we are there yet” only five times. Kept looking for the beach. Never found it yet.
Stopped to potty twice, the first time we ate Mcdonalds; the second time Norah used her potty seat in the truck 😂
In bed by 11:30 at the hotel kids were excited to ride the elevator up to our room.
We made it through Atlanta around 8:30! We decided to Stop at a Denny’s in Locust Grove, Georgia to grab a bite to eat …and coffee. Couldnt leave without trying our hand at the claw machine! Maybe we will have better luck next time. The gumball machine revealed some “slappy slime thing” that satisfied Norah so off we went!
Since we were making good timing, we called the hotel and cancelled reservations in Valdosta Georgia so we could keep trecking to the sunshine state. We are staying at the La Quinta Inn and Suites by Whyndom in Ocala, and finishing our journey to Ft Meters tomorrow!
Onward we go to meet up with poppa and grandma terry at their camper rental in Ft Meyers today!
Last night we stayed at the La Quinta Inn in Ocala…9 out of 10 would not recommend again. The only one star was the beds to sleep in. ..Pretty much.
We ate at Texas Road house and grabbed a cone at Freddies Frozen Custard after. We were pretty tired so we all went back to the room and retired early for the night.
Bubby enjoyed flirting with all the ladies and even felt our waitresses booty. I whisked his hand away and apologized, she actually told us our children were very well behaved! 😅
My (highly anticipated and much needed larger than life) margarita came with a pink shooter which Norah wanted to play and be a “scientist with”, there were a few questioning looks with our 3 year old walking around with an “alcoholic shot glass”. 😂
We made it to Windward Passage on Ft Myers Beach! Time to get unpacked and settle in! Looking forward to not being in the truck for a while. 😜
Upon arrival to Ft Meyers today we stopped to visit Grandpa and Grandma Terry in their camping spot. We enoyed blowing bubbles, cheeseburgers on the grill and spotting iguanas on our quick walk! Definite change in temps.. its hot!
We ordered Rays pizza for supper and while we waited the kids played on the beach for the first time. Forest kept looking down at his toes in the sand and Norah was on the hunt for the perfect shells. 😚
This morning after a breakfast of sausage, eggs and toast we slipped on suits and went for a walk along the beach.
The kids were not sure what to think of the waves crashing to shore at first, but once they discovered what the tides carried in their fears evaporated quickly.
Norah’s shells are carefully selected and Daddy helped to find the good ones.
Forests bucket reveals to be mostly sand, it became very heavy and momma had to help him lug it down the beach.
Buckets in hand we tromped all the way to Bowditch Point Park.
We saw a starfish along the way and stopped to admire him…he rode in our bucket for a bit but we decided he needed to get back home.
A nice couple came up and offered to take our photo and they shared with us some of their beach finds.
A horseshoe crab shell and some fire coral.
She also shared a nice warning: do not touch the fire coral.😬🤭
Back from the beach we stopped by the pool and snagged some ice cream treats before hopping in to splash around for a bit!
They loved the water! So warm! 💦
Everyone took a great nap today after the pool, so we decided to make the walk to the square to eat an early supper at Nervous Nellie’s.
Lane ordered a crab boil pot and we ate shrimp brishetta with scallops and the kids enjoyed grilled cheese and chicken fingers.
We sat on the upper floor so we could look out over the water. We enjoyed all of the food and drinks 🍹 😬😚
We walked to the boardwalk after and had some ice cream and then went to the Silver Witch for some jewelry before we went back to the condo.
We were gojng to wait on the tram to roll around and go for a ride but Norah insisted swimming in the pool like a mermaid with her new shell neclace. 😚 the water felt good, anyway. .
Not bad for a Monday! This morning we ate a bite of eggs and sausage and toast at the condo and were on the beach by about 8:00 again. We walked down to Bowditch Point/ beach and collected more shells as we went. We though we would see some mermaids on the north side but didnt have such luck. 🧜🏼♀️
We did see large starfish as the tide was low and lots of friendly passerbys (some dropped shells into Norah’s bucket). We found a sand dollar but it was still living so we tossed it back, Lane and Norah found one that was not so we collected that one.
Both kids did awesome making the treck and we decided to take the tram back.
We ended up riding the tram to the square and got out to stop by some shops and grab a snack at Pete’s time out. (The mint mojito was excellent!)
After Pete’s we hit the beach and walked it back to the condo. We laid down for a nap and then hit the pool after.
This evening Lane made steaks and veggies on the grill and a pasta shell side.
After dinner We walked back up to the square for some ice cream at Kilwins and brought some take home treats of saltwater taffy and chocolates for the kids.
Norah greeted many people to and from the condo and they seem to get a kick out of her large personality. 😚😄
Norah’s shell neclace that she is so excited about and loves telling anyone who will listen. When she wears it under water it thrns her into a mermaid. 🥰 🧜🏼♀️
On Tuesday morning we went to the beach to build sandcastles and nab a few pictures of the kids together (yes, the typical mom-thing) 😚 then we got back to the condo from Grandpa and Grandma Terry to arrive and we decided to take the tram into Times Square for some lunch. We ate on the back patio overlooking the poer at the Blowfish Bar and Grill. The crab and shrimp wrap was excellent and Lane had a grouper sandwich.
We went to a few shops around the square and took the tram back for naptime. The afternoon we spent relaxing and Norah and Dad went swimming in the pool. Forest seemed to be fighting off a stomache bug so we kept him cool and tried to hydrate.
On Wednesday, we woke up and Forest and Mommy went for a quick walk to get to the 7/11 for some bread and fruit and a few breakfast items. On our walk we saw a coconut so we picked it up and brought it back to share with Norah.
.
Pictured: coconut. It had been damaged from its fall and was leaking so we did not try to consume any of it.
We then went to the beach and shell hunted. Norah went to the pool a bit before we took early naps in order to get to Great Grandpa and Grandma’s campsite for dinner. We had hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill and the kids enjoyed riding on the golf cart. It was another hot day so Forest enjoyed picking up the rocks and decorative pebbles and tossing them in a bucket of water. 🤣 Norah kept wanting to check out the cool potty inside the motor home and also spotting iguanas.
On Thursday we started off the morning with a walk to Bowditch Park and then had planned to walk around on the beach sode but the tode was up and we coudnt wade with the kods and stroller so we cut through the park paths to the south side and picked up that span of beach in prder to get back. Forest was still battling tummy issues so we strolled him in the stroller along the beach.
Norah enjoyed playing in the water and finding and releasing leaves. 😂🤣 she sang while doing this.
Was impressed how she seemed so comfortable frolicking by the ocean.
