4.5 hours to get here - easy drive on a nice day. But a rough start as the hotel we were booked at had no electricity. Wasted an hour getting resituated but glad we did as the Drover Hotel was the bomb! \240

Outside the elevator

Our bedroom.

Rushed into our room, freshened up and went to our dinner reservation at H3, supposed to be one of the best restaurants down there. Absolutely the worst filet mignon I have ever had and \240the best thing we ate was pork and beans.

But that would not deter us from having fun. After dinner, we just wandered around that area, and found cowgirl winery, where we had a delightful chat with a woman, named Destiny and some actually fairly decent wine.

Next we proceeded to go to second rodeo and see a little bit of the music scene. Very very crowded place but shared a table with a nice teacher that was there with her boyfriend in the band. Meandered back to spend some time on the patio at our hotel, which was absolutely beautiful and then called \240it a night.

Mule alley at night

Horse statue in the middle of mule alley.

Sunset from our window.

Breakfast of champions to start our whirlwind day.

$14 mimosas- yikes! \240But breakfast was free!

Made our way down to the cattle drive - spoke to some nice young men from England doing a Texas to Colorado road trip.

Main Street

Never noticed before how unique each set of horns is.

Took an Uber to the downtown area and really got our steps in. Visited Sundance Square.

The pose.

Getting kind of warm.

Next up the water gardens. Nice little inter-city park.

Just sat and enjoyed the water.

Meandered our way back past the Kennedy square and then stopped for a roof top bar rest.

In front of the hotel he stayed at the night before he was assasinated.

Houston Street Bar and Pub. Nasty on the inside, but nice upstairs.

Took a 15 minute walk (turned into 30) to Cowtown Brewery- happening place.

Red ale and Mexican lager.

One more stop at Billy Bobs just to check it out. Largest honky tonk in the states - it was massive. Just wandered around then back to our favorite spot.

Yep….

Despite the name, it was a decent wine.

And back to the hotel for dinner and the end of our fast tracked weekend.

Went for a walk on the river trail before breakfast and heading home. Nice to stretch our legs.

It was a nice city to visit. They have several “sections” and we hit three of them - downtown, Sundance Square and the stockyards. Impressed with how clean the city was and how crowded the stockyards are during the weekend.

Missed our girl Missy, but she was well taken care of!

Bought Isabelle the cutest cowgirl inset with fringe :-).
