Drove from Korce to Gjirocaster. Really nice drive through the countryside. We saw lots of shepherds with their sheep, goats or cows. Lots of cows crossing the road. Beautiful mountains.
In Gjirocaster we stayed in an old chateau from the 1800’s. Antique furniture.
No heater. We had to keep warm with an old stove. Baloo hated it her, because when we arrived it was raining and we left him in the room. And it was cold. 50 F. Once we picked him up and took him on a walk he started to like it more.
In town we met lots of stray dogs. Really friendly ones. They just were begging to be pet. Baloo made this cute little friend and actually was playing with him. It was sad to see all these dogs in the cold.
Gjirocaster has an old castle. Really worth visiting. It only cost $4 to go in.
It’s a big castle with great views of the valley . The locals were selling art work and tea on our way out. Really cheap prices.
In town we bought Christmas tree ornaments that were hand carved made from wood. The wood carver engraved Eleanor’s and Lucien’s name on the ornaments we bought for them.
Great city with cobble stone streets. Narrow steep streets. Lots of original walls from centuries ago. Reminded us of Croatia. The castle is at the end on top of the hill. Town square is surrounded with shops and restaurants. Very affordable prices on souvenirs and food.
