Our first Fulltime Families rally week was a success! So many nice people and fun activities. We re-routed ourselves a month or so ago so we could attend Safari Week in Glen Rose, TX. It was a week of about 15 families camping together, exploring the area and enjoying some planned and unplanned activities. We loved it so much that we re-routed ourselves to Tucson, AZ in a few weeks for another rally week.

We spent our first afternoon in Glen Rose at the Big Rocks Park

Jackson’s favorite thing to do - climb!

Jason wore the wrong shoes for rock climbing but the flip flops came in handy later for wading through the river

Grace loved it too

Jackson on the ground gives a good perspective to the size of the rocks

Clear cold river to walk across

His feet are numb - that’s why he’s smiling

We all decided to jump in too

Maneuvering the rocks and crevices

Some folks at the rock park had baby bunnies - of course the kids wanted one!

He learns and I work - beautiful weather to be outside!

Ready for the scavenger hunt

One of reasons the Rally was held in Glen Rose was the proximity to this amazing place - Fossil Rim

Kids learning about the endangered animals brought to the wildlife center to help with breeding, research and education

Bones and antlers

We went on a hike to learn about the terrain

Juniper trees

Hike through the wildlife center

After our hike and picnic lunch, we loaded up into the safari bus to drive through the park. Our tour guide was funny and informative

First stop - giraffes!

Male giraffe approaching Jackson to eat from his hand 👅

The day we visited, the male giraffe was the only one allowed outside of their shelter and the females were inside with some babies

He knows where the food is!

We saw so many animals - most just roam free across the hundreds of acres inside the park

They do have the cheetah area fenced off - he was so close to the bus - just chilling

View of the park from the top of a hill

We were allowed to feed the ostriches as well - but not from our hands - just from the ledge of the bus

Video - wildebeest stampede

Grace spent the trip in the back of the bus with her friend Layla

Grooming the goats

We learned that at the next Rally we’re going to in Tucson they will have an evening called Kids Marketplace where kids can make and sell their own creations. The kids got supplies and are working on their inventory!

Loved being at this rally week - kids all stick close to home and get their school work down in the mornings then run free to play and participate in the scheduled activities

Bags! Been awhile since we’ve played - J still beat me!

Another reason this location was chosen for rally week was the proximity to the Dinosaur Valley state park

Our fulltime families group went on a hike together

Along the Paluxy River

It got rocky and the kids loved that part

Rock climber!

Jackson is some place in this pic! Climbing and ignoring us!

Jason was amazed by the dinosaur prints

Dinosaur tracks in the river

Still climbing

What goes up, must go down!

Crossing the river to get a better look at tracks

Catching tadpoles

Literally hanging off the side of the river bank

Jackson and buddies wading in the river

It was a pretty day to just let them explore

They were soaked and didn’t have additional clothes - it was a wet, cold ride home!

Such an amazing week!
