Barcelona

I love Barcelona! Barcelona is so pretty and it’s finally warm again! Sadly the day did not start out great as Chiara and I didn’t not sleep last night at all. We were so excited for comfy beds, however there is no blanket just a super thin sheet and for some reason our room was freezing and we could not get it any warmer. We were wearing sweaters and pants and we still kept waking up throughout the night shaking. We went down for breakfast just before 9 and it was fine. It’s your typical hotel breakfast, cereal, meats and cheese, yogurt, etc. Everyone was dressed in tank tops, shorts or dresses excited for the heat but we all had to go up and change as we were going to visit churches and were not allowed to show our thighs or shoulders. We then walked down to the metro station and went down to the center of Barcelona. There we met our tour guide who took us on a 2 hour walking tour of Barcelona. We went to the Barcelona cathedral where there used to be a piece of the holy cross and was where the 6 first natives who came back with cristopher Columbus were baptized. We also saw the geese which are said to protect the church. We then walked along the side streets and ended up infront of the giant market, la Boqueria where we got released for lunch. They had so many delicious options. Chairs and I ended up getting a chicken empanada, fresh strawberries, chocolate covered strawberries and some fresh lemon lime juice. It was so so good. We then met up with the group and walked down to Gaudis Sagrada Familia which has been being built for over the past 100 years and still won’t be complete until around 2026. The building is just incredible all around. Each side is unique and different and each more beautiful than the rest. Before heading into the actual church we headed to a cafe right beside and had a quick class for 2 hours. Then we headed into the church which was not at all what I expected. It was much more modern and colourful than I would thought. We then walked all the way back to the hotel where we were the released for dinner. Since it was both Natalie and Alexs birthday we had a “free” dinner meaning we could go wherever we wanted as long as we were back by 10. A large group of us dressed up and walked down to the beach and found a super cute Mexican right on the sand. We had the best guacamole and dips and the le some chicken tacos. It was definitely somewhere I would return too. We then walked back walking past the fair. Where we ordered one churro for dessert and ended up getting this huge cone of churros. We are now back in bed ready to head to sleep as tomorrow we are back to normal class.
