Day 2: After the 22 hours of travel we enjoyed a extreme lie-in before beginning our exploration of Tokyo!
But first, hunger drove us to a local Family Mart where Rana experienced her first Japanese convenience food and I had my first meat bun of the trip!
We found a small park (Kioicho) and stopped to eat.

Next stop was the Senso-ji Temple and Asakusa shopping district. We explored the stalls with their tourist trinkets and local foods. Rana found a small independent shop with stylish goods where we bought a little plate to add to the collection back home.

A mixed bag of luck but not too bad!
With night settling in we finished off our first day in Tokyo with a trip to the Sky Tree. The views from the observation deck were amazing and really hit home just how vast the city is!
Rana is confident she can navigate to Sky Tree without a map!
Tokyo; a photo can’t do it justice.
With the Cityscape sprawled out in front of us we contemplated on the meaning of life.... but mainly we contemplated food and sleep!
With jet lag kicking in we meandered our way through the labyrinth of escalators and corridors of Sky Tree Town and back to our hotel.
With the chilled start to our tourist activities over we were ready for bed!
Day 3: Our second day in Tokyo and Jetlag was still hanging around but we managed to get out and about eventually!
After all the public transport we decided to start the day exploring the area around our hotel. A short walk took us to the Imperial garden where we enjoyed the views of the city from the peaceful park.
The view of the park had a surreal quality thanks to the pastel coloured grass

After the park we walked around the perimeter of the palace grounds, constantly getting in the way of the mass of Japanese out for the Saturday run!
We stopped at Tokyo Station, a grand building designed to mimic European style, and found an Okinawan restaurant. It seemed like a safe bet as surely Okinawan cuisine would be heavy with fish options, but no such luck! Somehow Rana ended up with 2 pork dishes and I ended up with extra pork for my noodles!
