New suitcase! Need to fill it!

The Westin Sarasota

Beautiful sunset in Sarasota!

the beautiful view from my Hotel Garibarldi Blu! \240

Walked around the neighborhood and found Procacci where I stopped to have a Tartufo e Pate di Foie Gras and glass of rosé!

Today Sept 16 was my birthday! \240A great way to enjoy Florence with some culture and celebration. \240I toured the Academia and Uffizi!

Met some friends at an American bar last night - lovely couple Kacie and Christian from Las Vegas!

After the Uffizi I was ready for a drink and some relaxation, so went to the Centrale Market in Firenze. Great snacks and I was able to watch soccer

The day ended with a sunset and a long trek up the steps to Piazze Michaelangelo - worth the pain for the sunset though

Finally, dinner was at La Giostra and drinks at Locale. Both were fantastic and make a great combo for a special occasion.

3
Forte dei Marmi

My first few days in Forte have been beautiful. The sunset on Monday night was incredible. \240Behind the town are the Alpuan Alps. The white isn’t snow in the mountains, it’s marble!

Grocery shopping was an experience, trying to figure out what was what. I generally got the hang of it though.

4
Forte dei Marmi

Yesterday was a beach day and it was 80 and sunny! \240My friends at the Montecristo Beach Club took care of me and got me a lounger and an umbrella with some chairs and a table. Everyone was so nice.

After the beach I went to a local caffé and got an Aperol to cool off. The snack scene included with the drink was perfection!

5
Forte dei Marmi

Today is the famous market in Forte Dei Marmi! \240Vendors from all over come to sell their goods and there are even great discounts on designer brands.

After the market I went to pick up some Prosciutto di Parma at the Proscutteria! \240It was delicious as alway.

Time for Apertivo!

And of course, Gelato : )

6
Pisa

After lunch in Lucca I hit the road and drove 30 minutes to Pisa! \240I took some selfies and tourist shots, then explored the city.

Then I popped into Santa Maria della Spina, a tiny church that was built in 1323. It is a somewhat rare example of gothic architecture in Pisa.

Around the corner is the Palazzo Blu residence which has been turned into a museum. There were beautiful furniture pieces and some new art exhibitions from a famous Pisa artist.

After the museum, I stumbled into a Calabrian street festival and had a blast sampling the traditional Calabrian sweets and specialties.

Since it was so hot I decided I needed a gelato and went to La Bottega del Gelato, the best in Pisa. They make everything on site.

I ended my time in Pisa at the famous Caffé Federico Salza, one of the most celebrated cafés and chocolatiers in town. Of course I ended the afternoon with a drink - my new favorite the Americano! It’s Campari, sweet vermouth, and club soda.

7
Lucca

Today was a big day trip, starting with a drive to the walled city of Lucca. It was perfection. I rode my bike around the walls, explored the churches and famous Bell Tower, and then had lunch at a classic lunch spot that has been in the owner’s family for many years. \240I had the wild boar ragu!

Lucca was beautiful and at times reminded me of Paris!

The tiny streets were so charming to walk through. It was easy and fun to get lost!

8
Ristorante da Romano

Instead of heading back to Forte, I detoured to Viareggio, another beach town a bit south of Forte. I parked just in time to catch the sunset, which was incredible.

After some google searching, I somewhat accidentally stumbled into a very high end and acclaimed seafood restaurant in Tuscany, Ristorante da Romano. I wasn’t really dressed the part, but they were wonderful to me and the Sea Bream I had was delicious.

9
Carrara

Friday started with another day trip, this time to Carrara. Carrara is where all the Carrara marble in the world comes from, and it is right in the middle of the Alpuan Alps. \240The drive was only about 40 minutes from Forte, but required an intense amount of focus given the winding roads and steep inclines.

Removing the marble takes a huge amount of work, you would think by the time it got to your kitchen or bathroom in the US it would cost even more!

10
Forte dei Marmi

I finished out Friday back in Forte for one more beach day. \240The Montecristo again made for a great spot to lay out, read, and swim.

After sunset I went next door to a wonderful beach seafood spot for Apertivo.

11
Spanish Steps

Once I left the outlets, I took the train to Rome from Florence. Once in Rome I dropped my bags at the Hotel Mozart. It was such a charming street! I had a gorgeous view from my room.

I walked around in search of Apertivo and found myself at the Spanish Steps with a stunning sunset.

After that I had dinner at a spot famous for fettuccine alfredo but got a classic Roman dish instead, bucatini amatriciana.

12
PRADA Outlet

Leaving Forte today was hard but I knew it was the right choice to keep moving and head to Rome. I drove south of Florence to the Space Outlet for Prada and it was everything I hoped for and more!

I love seeing the mountains from the highway. This area of Tuscany holds such a unique backdrop. I’m never running on empty in my BMW 2 series hatchback diesel! \240A great little car that was terrific on gas.

This is Prada headquarters, not the Outlet.

This unassuming building is the Space Outlet.

Space only houses Prada inside, as well as its sister brand, Miu Miu.

My bag was almost as big as my tire! And barely fit in the hatchback. Have to protect the goods! \240Even the hedge leaving the parking lot was gorgous.

After Prada I went north toward Florence where I was dropping of my car before my train to Rome and made one final shopping stop at The Mall. The Mall is an outlet mall, but with many high end European brands. \240I did some damage here as well!

This is only a short list of the brands at The Mall.

Colosseum

Day 1 in Rome started by walking up to the Villa Borghese gardens where I wandered for a couple hours.

I then walked up to Quartiere Coppedè, Rome’s smallest neighborhood. It was charming and beautiful. Almost like a movie set!

After that I walked to the Colosseum for a guided tour.

It was breathtaking thinking about how old the Colosseum is, so at times it was hard to focus on the guide. \240The tour went on to Palantine Hill which was equally impressive.

After a long tour, it was time for Apertivo and my cocktail spritz making class at Magnebevo!

Dinner was a short walk from the hotel at La Buca Di Ripetta where I had a delicious meal.

The friend zucchini! \240
