Woke up and cleaned a little. Already made lunches and got snacks together the night before. Stopped at a gas station for more water bottles on the way to Grand Teton. About a three hour drive but it was pretty scenic. Got to Jenny Lake Visitor Center around 9am and the parking lot was full. Parking on the street was filling up as well. We got to the visitor center before a crowd came in. Stamped our National Park Passport and bought bear spray. Walked to Jenny Lake and found a spot where nobody was. The views were breathtaking. I've wanted to come to the Grand Tetons for so long. The views didn't disappoint. I knew it would be busy. It is peak season and the park became super popular over the last few years. But the actual amount of people was disgusting lol. I wanted to do the String Lake Trailhead but the parking lot was already full. There was another parking lot for horse trailers and people were packing that full. This lot was probably two miles away from the actual trailhead. Went to see Menors Ferry because it was the only parking lot that wasn't full. There's an old general store here and a few bits of history. We tried the parking lot for String Lake one more time. No luck. Got pushed out into the Jenny Lake Overlook Scenic Drive. We were able to get parking on the street and decided to at least do some of the Jenny Lake trail. This is one of the longer easy hikes. 7.2 miles but not too many people. Most people are on the other side of the lake or doing other hikes. The views were pretty and I was just glad to finally enjoy the park. We walked down a side trail and got to sit on a rock in the water of the lake. More amazing views and the water was so nice and cold. There was a guy fly fishing on the other side and there was another guy watching him. Not sure if they were together or not. I think the guy was trying to scare us off and have the place all to himself again. He was older and kept jumping up and down and staring at us while screaming lol. We stayed a bit longer and then headed back on our way. The hike wasn't hard just long. For the most part it wasn't too hot either. Lots of shade and was cloudy at times. Drove to Mormon Historic Row and took the famous pictures you always see lol. The structure is the original from the early mormon settlers. The families got here around 1896 and left in 1950. Interesting to take yourself back and try to imagine living here back then. We headed out of the park and stopped at a few overlooks along the way. The mountains really do take your breath away. We were able to stop at the sign too and take pictures. Nobody was here. We also stopped at the Tie Hack Monument on the way out of the park. Coming back to Lander we saw a Bighorn Sheep, he looked sickly! But it could have been because I've never seen one and he didn't have a winter coat. It rained a few times on our drive back and we saw two rainbows. Stopped at another historic point of interest, Crowheart Butte. We kept calling this Devil's Tower on the drive in. Looks like Devil's Tower but smaller. Stopped at the liquor store because I wanted some Grand Teton Brewing beer to try. Got Old Faithful Ale which is a golden ale. Part of the National Park series. Not bad. I was thinking about Ratatouille the movie on the way back home. So we watched that before bed. What a classic lol.
