Stopped by the road for a little roadside picnic !
As we approach Parry Sound we can see and smell the forest fires. We’ve seen a number of helicopters filling up. \240This picture is from a news site \240not ours.
We’ve had off and on rain to start off the journey.
We found the big nickel!
Checking out the wawa goose. 900kms into the trip. We’ve seen some lovely scenery on the trip.
Very pretty scenery at a look out on out drive
Celebrating day two of our epic journey with a Keg dinner after our A&W lunch this is a bit of a step up :)
Lookout
Nice look out that Laura took
The section between Thunder Bay and Kenora was particularly undeveloped. We had to be careful we had enough fuel between stops. And finding a place for lunch wasn’t happening so we ate a lunch of champions. Home made carrot muffins, kettle chips and home made brownies. Some of our last home baked goods. It’s been lovely having some of home along with us!!
Cell coverage on the trip had been spotty so using online navigation like Waze has been useless. So we resorted to Copilot. Fortunately we loaded up offline maps in case.

Checked in Kenora for the night. We will wake up and have a short drive into Winnipeg and a visit with Laura’s friend Emma tomorrow.
As of today we cross 2K out of our 4K journey. We are all out of our baked goods... no muffins, cookies, brownies... Gasps. We might just need to throw someone out of their kitchen along the way... hehe. Just kidding, or are we?
1976 kms in and we’ve reached Manitoba!
Driving in downtown Winnipeg is confusing lots of one ways bus ways etc but we made it without harming anyone :) thankfully a nice popo let me off with a warning for driving in the bus way :) doh. He saw the Ontario plates and took pity. I’ll take it.
Woohoo we just crossed over into Saskatchewan!! At 2517 kms of ~4000. Neat to watch all the gadgets automatically change as we cross time zones but it messes you up with arrival times on the navigation apps :(
The roads through Manitoba are a lot more flat and straight so the speed limit it 110 instead of 90 allowing us to make good time. At 2460 km into the trip. \240
We have not left civilization after all ... I found my favourite cheesies :)
We’ve arrived in Saskatoon !! 3010kms local brewery.
A magpie was playing
Laura saw some lovely flowers. Some kind \240of daisies
Crossed over the Alberta border on the way to Edmonton
We just saw hail. Nutz.
Downtown Edmonton in the rain
We stopped off at Allegros tonight for dinner. Probably one of the best restaurants in a while. I had the veal and Laura had the salmon both were awesome. And they comd us a tirimasu that was amazing.
Checked out St Joseph’s Bassilica
Checked out Muttart conservatory unfortunately they did not allow pics. Some beautiful flowers.
Checking out the west Edmonton mall.
An indoor water park wave pool
The indoor coaster is cool
We’ve arrived in Peace river and Laura has the keys to her first place. Very exciting.
