All of the sites here have a thin perimeter of trees giving everyone a little privacy
Our first night was a climate changer - we had just been swimming in Lake Michigan the day before and now we were surrounded by autumn colors and cool air - perfect night for chili and a campfire.
Early morning walks on the shores of Lake Huron
Fog was dense on the lake each morning
Love cooking and eating outside! Jackson looks like he’s a lumberjack back there splitting wood!
I try to work outside as much as the weather and my meetings will allow!!
Jason and I discussed this phenomenon for the first few days up here - we saw Mackinac and Mackinaw. This handy sign at the laudromat explained it all!!
Why have I never seen these swings before??? I’m sure it’s considered dangerous! Kids played at the 3 playgrounds at our campground multiple times a day. They found some friends on one of the last days here.
Sunset on Lake Huron ❤️
Bear hugs!
Mackinac Bridge in the distance - view from our campground
S’mores. Nuff said.
Video - awesome swings
At the Lumberjack show
Wednesday evening we took in the Lumberjack show
Two lumberjacks compete trying to complete 8 events
Kids with lumberjack Eugene! He won!
Jackson got to participate in the show - he got to bring home the “bunny” chair that the lumberjacks carved with their chainsaws
Bike trail by our campground
We made it 6 miles round trip one night - not bad for a 5 year old that had training wheels on just 6 weeks ago!
Waiting for the slow pokes to catch up!
Dinner at a restaurant on the lake - kids find anything with “poop” in the name hilarious! (Kelly - this is a shout out to Connor as Jackson really wanted him to see this pic!)
Video - lumberjack log rolling
Video - lumberjack pole climb
Kids and Jason spent one afternoon touring the icebreaker ship and museum. Jason forgot his phone in the truck so all I can share are the pics of the ticket and sticker the kids got. 🤣 They all loved it and the first thing Grace told me was the ship was built by women only 💪🏻!
Another afternoon was spent touring the fort called Colonial Michilimackinac
Video at fort
Another afternoon the kids and Jason toured this lighthouse
At the top of the lighthouse

One night we drove over the bridge - leaving the mitten of Michigan to check out the upper peninsula
Mackinac bridge
Fudge is a main food group in this area - it’s sold everywhere and SOOO good!!
Ferry to Mackinaw Island!! So excited to be going to this island on Saturday!!!
No cars are allowed on the island. We brought our bikes on the ferry. Everyone gets around by walking, biking, horseback or horse drawn carriage.
Biking on the shoreline to Arch Rock
So pretty to ride on the shore of this island
Jackson is pointing at the sign that it’s 207 steps to Arch Rock
Arch Rock
Arch Rock was formed by hundred of years of water and wind chipping away at the softer stone leaving this amazing arch
There are four active churches on the island - this is the Protestant Stone Church
This is St Anne’s Catholic Church
One of the first settlers on the island was a missionary, Jacques Marquette (like our wine!)
Marquette built this bark chapel to worship from
This was a let down - we biked up many hills to get to Skull Cave. Not a skull and not much of a cave! Jackson was not impressed!
More hills and more stairs to get to the fort at the highest point of the island. If you look closely you’ll find Jackson sticking his head out by the base of the flag pole
View from fort
So many stairs...easier down than up!
View from highest point of the island
So proud of this girl!! Newbie bike rider and she maneuvered all the horse shit, walkers, bikers and carriages like a pro!
Main city street of the island
Away from the tourist area - biking in the forest
I was stunned by the clear blue green water of the lake here!
Took a break from biking to build rock sculptures
This girl loves selfies with her mama! ❤️
Hope to be back one day to explore more!!!
One of the houses in the distance on hill is for sale...$5.8 million. We’re considering making an offer 😂
