I think I say this at the end of every week but we had another amazing week. Maine has made it on my list of places I’d live someday. We split our drive over Monday and Tuesday. I’ll be sad to leave tomorrow but am looking forward to being back in Boston. This week ends our wilderness time for several weeks (Boston, NYC, and DC are next).

Monday we drove from Burlington to Wells, Maine. Last year, the kids and I visited Wells over the summer and loved it so we were excited to share it with Jason. Since we only had one evening there, we visited the beach!

Video - I found this gem saved to my phone and had no idea she was chasing down “eagles”

Tuesday we drove the rest of the way to Trenton, just outside of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. I recently won a contract that requires a government ID. I got fingerprinted in WI and was able to pick up my ID at the closest government credentialing center which was Acadias Headquarters.

We only had one day of rain/wind during our week in Maine - not a bad office environment!

We were so excited to see another family pull in next to us on Tuesday. Both parents are retired from the Air Force and have been RVing with their 3 boys for over 5 years! Our kids had fun hanging out during the week.

The neighbor boys were trying on their Halloween costumes. 😂

Video - several campfires this week. Just cuz!

Friday afternoon, Jason was trying to take the kids to a museum or the nature center in Acadia but both were closed. They headed up Emery Path instead and had a blast. Lots of rocks and steps to climb.

Friday night and Jackson finally got what he was looking for all week - that boy loves lobster!

Saturday morning

We made our way to Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunrise

It was very cold and so windy

The summit is known as the highest point on the North Atlantic seacoast where the sun strikes first

As the sunrise time got closer, the rocks filled up and the parking lot was overflowing

Video - so many spectators

Park loop road was so pretty and filled with stone bridges

After watching the sunrise, we went to Jordan Pond

A 3.5 mile hiking path goes around the pond

Surrounded by mountains

We thought this knotted tree was cool

The hilltops in the distance are the South Bubble and North Bubble - we hiked those the next day

There’s a restaurant at Jordan Pond that we ate at - kids had and loved popovers for the first time.

And more lobster for this kid!

After lunch we explored Sand Beach

Kids and Jason climbing rocks

We walked along the Ocean Path and stopped at a few overlooks

We made our way to Thunder Hole. Before high tide the waves get to 40 feet and the sound makes a thundering noise. We here after high tide so it was pretty quiet.

With a day that started at 5 am and was filled with exploring, she passed out on her bubba on the way home.

Sunday morning we took it easy. Slept in, cleaned RV, and ran some errands. We headed back to Acadia in the afternoon for some biking in the Carriage Roads (only biking and walking is allowed).

We didn’t last long - the trails were very hilly and we were walking our bikes a lot so we headed back to the truck.

We decided to go back to hiking instead and went to find the Bubble Rock on South Bubble mountain

We found this little green snake at the top of South Bubble mountain. Jackson was dying to pick it up! We wouldn’t let him - mean parents!

That white rock behind me is Bubble Rock

Bubble Rock is a glacial erratic (something we all learned about this week).

Goodbye, for now, Maine!
