#3: “Marie....the baguettes!”

Bon jour! Just got back from our first European adventure: a road trip to the Alsace Region of France.

First, some thougts on the Autobahn: I have to say I’m not too impressed. I don’t like going super fast and you have to pay really close attention to road signs because it goes back and forth a lot between speed limits and no speed limits. \240And there are lots of speed cameras. Just ask someone in our family, who I won’t embarrass by calling her out by name. 😳 Props to Taylor for being our fearless driver, who not only drove us there and back safely, he also got us in and out of THE most harrowing, tiny, corkscrew parking garage ever! And with minimal cursing.

Our first stop was in Strasbourg, France. \240We had a delicious lunch where they served slabs of French bread covered in different cheeses and toppings like honey and bacon.

We also visited the Strasbourg Cathedral; it was Amanda & Taylor’s 3rd attempt to see it, so we were thrilled to get in; it was so worth the effort.

We piled back in the car, heading to Kaysersberg, France; an adorable French town in the countryside.

Since we were heading to a small French town, we decided it would be fitting for us to listen to the soundtrack for Beauty and the Beast. Props again to Taylor for \240singing the boy parts with no prodding from us. 😊

It was a beautiful, picturesque drive with rolling hills and lush green landscapes. We made it to Kaysersberg around dinner time.

It was exactly what I imagined a small French town would look like, with many quaint restaurants and shops. Our place was adorable and we had too much fun with the shutters, and may or may not have made a video re-enacting a scene from Beauty and the Beast. Once again, props to Taylor for patiently indulging us and being our videographer. Stay tuned. 😊

It was a relaxing few days, spent exploring the area. We visited a winery and a couple of adjoining towns. Seems like one of us was always humming Belle (There goes the Baker with his tray like always..)

Our last night, we dined on the terrace of a cute French restaurant. We weren’t exactly sure about much of what we had ordered, but it was a delicious meal. Mckenna and I even tried escargot for the first time. I thought it was just okay. As for Mckenna, I think the picture speaks for itself.

But I was proud of her for trying. We made it up to her with dessert.

She liked it a whole lot better....

*Update: below is our video production. Enjoy!
