Decided to push through Kalamazoo and arrived in Battle Creek Friday night around 9:00 pm EST. First attempt at a hotel was a bust. The Knights Inn was a hotel from h*** Walked in and the smell was overwhelming. Didn’t want to touch anything. Amy kicked her negotiation skills into high gear and got a full refund for Blayne’s allergies to the musty smell. Hopped across the highway to snag the last room at the Country Inn & Suites, a jacuzzi room with queen bed. Much better but lacked hot water in the shower and had broken jets in the tub. The continental breakfast and peace of mind made up for it , though.
Oh no…let’s go
The cute Uber driver for our trip
Much better
Blayne said Amy slept really according to the multiple times she was rolled over for snoring.
Non-functioning jacuzzi tub…still a better room than the first attempt.
Crossed the border…nice folks. Glad we waited to exchange currency. The money exchange office was literally right after we crossed. The lady was pleasant and it only cost $2 CAD (as opposed to the $20 charge and 2-3 day wait our bank proposed).
While the entrance into Canada went smoothly, we quickly realized our phones were off the US Cellular network. No GPS, phone service or internet connection caused a minor panic, but we knew the general direction to head, so we forged onward!
Stopped for lunch around 1:00 at Onroute Travel Oasys (Woodstock, ON). Had our first experience with Tim Horton’s. Amy had a toasted roast beef and cheddar artisan sandwich. Blayne had a crispy chicken and roast beef cravers (sliders). Split a 10 pack of Timbits (donut holes). Chocolate was the favorite.
Briefly used wifi at Onroute to get screen shots of directions. Decided not to get gas as Niagara Falls was listed as 2 hours away. Got back on the highway and soon thereafter got caught in a deadlock stop because of an accident for (45 minutes).
Arrived and ready to site see

Blayne was a wine trivia champ, guessing fruits in certain wines and quiz questions offered up by Cam (above).
The Wine Cellar
Ice Wine Cave - reminded us of the Ice Castle in Galveston
Picked at -10• Celsius @ 3:00 AM, ice wine contains 40 bunches of grapes per bottle
(and is half the size of a typical wine bottle that uses 4 bunches of grapes)
Finished off the night with Chinese Noodles (worth the 50 minute wait + walk back to the hotel)
Happy 45th Birthday, Amy! Your big present today is a 9-hour car ride!

Whoops! Blayne tried to bribe his way back into the country by handing the customs agent his credit card.
