Our trip actually started on Monday, August 15, 2022. We said our goodbyes to our daughter, Heather, and family (Chuck, Derek, Travis and his girlfriend Leo) at Sunday night dinner in Stephentown, NY.
Monday morning was finishing packing and cleaning up our camp spot after being at Heather and Chuck’s since May 20, 2022.
By time we got on the road it was actually 12:10 pm. With 7,628 miles on our Class C named the Big Marshmallow by Jaxson, we headed to Albany and got on the NYS Thruway aka I-90 Westbound. \240Only stopping for a 15 minute break, we continued on to visit Aunt Jean Rieger at Leisurewood Campground in Akron, NY.
We arrived at 5:35 pm, but walked around for an hour trying to find her place. Once we finally did we were able to set up in her driveway, make dinner, visit and watch the sunset before bed. Very nice visit, but very worried she is starting to go downhill quickly since I saw her in the Spring.
Day 2. Mostly a travel day from Akron, NY to Bristol, Indiana. We drove through the rest of NYS, through Pennsylvania watching fields of grape vines, onto Ohio and into Indiana. Settled at Eby’s Pines Campground. Nice campground. Took a really nice walk. \240Made some dinner and enjoyed a couple of cocktails.
Grapevines in Western NY and PA
More Grapevines
Walking around campground. Really pretty tall pines

Day 3. August 17
Went to the RV & MH Museum in Elkhart IN for a few hours. Really awesome seeing the old campers. \240Was worth the admission of $12 pp.
Oh. Filled up with gas for $3.70 gallon at a BP. Cheapest price yet compared to $4.09 in Akron, NY and saw day before Nassau, NY $4.35 gallon.
Note: \240You can park overnight in the parking lot with slide out and generator running as part of Harvest Hosts.
Long drive on I-90/I-80 through the end of Illinois below Chicago. Accident or big semi broke down and caused a good hour delay. Then drove through the countryside seeing nothing but cornfields and a few windmill farms.
We ended the day at 3:50 pm in Colona Indiana at a Harvest Host, Lavender Crest Winery. Had a flight of wine tasting and appetizers before settling in our camper here.
