One of the many marble statues/carvings
Elevator to the rooftop bar
Our room in the French wing
Checking out a rum room
And dinner a la fresca on one of the squares
Looking down on the hotel courtyard from the roof
Arrived in Panama City today, and our hotel in old town is stunning. It dates back to the 1600s and used to be a convent.

Our Hotel was incredible. Converted from a Convent that was built in 1688. If you ever stay in Panamá city stay here.
Went out exploring a little this morning. There is history and tempting food everywhere in this part of the city.
Heading to Bocas del Toro, a bunch of islands on the Caribbean side of Panama
We flew over the Panama Canal
Coming into Bocas
We found our captain, grabbed some groceries, and headed out of Bocas Town, which is the main town on Isla Colon
Coming up on our house on Isla Cristobal
From the back of the house
So much deck space, plus a pool and a hot tub
Mangroves behind the house
Main house behind us in the mangroves. There’s two bedand baths in our house, and another three bedrooms/baths back there.
Headed into Bocas Town for dinner
Back at the house for the evening…
We discovered we have Southern and Spotted Eagle Rays that hunt by our deck!
Breakfast on the deck, compliments of our maid
Went exploring the mangroves on kayak and paddleboard.
Steve swore there was a human skull in the water. It was a baby stingray.
Mangrove tunnels!
“Jess, did you see that gator?”
Cooling off after padding
It knows how to rain in Panama!
Haven’t seen one of these in awhile.
Going diving today!
Map of Bocas and its dive sites. Bocas Town is on the southern tip of Isla Colon and our house is on the northern tip of Isla Cristobal. We dived a couple sites off Isla Solarte.
Sunset from our deck
Eagle rays came back to visit
Heading to Bocas Town
Heading out to explore some other islands with our captain Eric
We went south down San Cristobal, then over to Cayo Coral and Cayo Zapatilla
Passage through the mangroves
Bahia de los delfines
Scarlet macaw on Cayo Coral
I almost made friend with some sunflower seeds
Snorkeling Cayo Zapatilla
Back at Cayo Coral for lunch
Vanilla sky sunset from our deck
And then into Bocas Town for dinner
And a little shopping
Night snorkeling on our house reef. A little octopus took quite a liking to Steve.
We finally got to see a sloth this morning!!
So sad to be leaving Bocas - this is a place we could stay for a while
Back in Panama City, at the Sofitel Legend this time
Wandering the street market and art vendors
There is so much historical architecture here in this part of town
Hopping between rooftop bars…
Rooftop 1
Might be the prettiest cocktail ever
Rooftop 2
Rooftop 3
And we found a fantastic Asian fusion restaurant rooftop 4!
View of the modern downtown from Casco Viejo, which was the second downtown of Panama City. The first is Old Town and looks like it’s just some ruins and a museum.
View from our balcony at the Sofitel
So wish we could bring this home! Damn Trump.
So sad to be leaving - we really loved this country. We’ll be back to explore more! (After learning a little more Spanish.🙃)
Going home first class. Copa gave us these cute little travel packs!
Bye Panama! 🇵🇦
