I arrived in Paris quite exhausted and needed a nap. Luckily, the staff at my hotel, Hotel Eden in the 15th arondissement, were very accommodating and had my room ready early.
After a quick nap, it was time to explore! I had a tour of The Louvre booked, so I set off. As I strolled through the streets of Paris, I marveled at the architecture.
The subway was easy to use and I used the Citymapper app for help - if you don’t have this app, download it now! It’s free and SO helpful!
I booked a guided tour of The Louvre with Get Your Guide. I cannot recommend this company enough! I couldn’t find my guide and the customer service line was so helpful. Maria, my guide, was informative and friendly. She was willing and able to answer all of my questions.
The Louvre is a lovely museum, a must-see for first time visitors to Paris and for museum junkies. Mona Lisa is there, but there are so many beautiful pieces of art.
After my tour, I strolled for a while, got macarons at La duree, and then dinner at La Boissonnerie. The food is incredible!
Day 2 in Paris, I found myself on a tour of the Palace of Versailles, which is about 20 minutes outside of the city center.
Another Get Your Guide booking, the Palace of Versailles is a visit you cannot miss when in Paris. From looking at the golden gates outside, all the way to the room of mirrors and everything in between, there really is no way to describe this place that would do it justice.
Take a look at these pictures and you’ll see what I mean.
When I made it to the gardens, I made a friend on my tour and we decided to rent a golf kart to drive around the gardens. Since it was a very rainy and gloomy day, this was the best way to see the gardens. We stayed dry and had so much fun!
We returned to the city and had lunch, where I tried snails for the first time! Then we strolled by the Eiffel Tower for a picture and finally by the Notre Dame.
A day to wander around the City of Light, a day just for me. I took a walking tour of Montmarte, an incredibly eclectic artsy neighborhood of Paris, home to the Moulin Rouge!
This is the area where several famous painters and artists used to reside and paint together. I wish I could spend more time there.
After a delicious lunch in Montmarte, I went to the largest antique market in Europe and found some cool little things. Then I headed back into the city for dinner at Le Deux Magots and a cabaret show at Crazy Horse.
Au revoir Paris ❤️
