The sojourn on Saturday was planned without much fanfare. A few of us got together and decided to take a day out and indulge ourselves in the pleasure of driving into the countryside for some relaxing time after the hectic week that had just gone past.

Eventually we had 7 of us who managed to sign up and there were some of us within the group who did more planning than the others in terms of figuring out the place, making the bookings and getting the vehicles and some real spirits in place. The team was already on the spirit that mattered most, which is of spending a good time together without a worry of work or life !

We started around 7 am in the morning in two different cars, stopped for breakfast at Kamats where we had sumptuous servings of hot South Indian breakfast. We managed to surprise the servers with our appetite as they were trying to moderate our intake.

Recharged with carbohydrates we drove through lush green countryside, constant chatter and lovely weather to reach the place where we were to spend the day by around noon.

Soon after we embarked on our activities, that involved some display of some athletic abilities as we clambered up trees, and zipped through the forest on lines. A few actually signed up for more than the challenge they could digest, and there was a feeling of adrenalin rushing through the body after the relaxing drive.

We made arrangements with the local caretakers of the resort for a sit out besides the serene lake and below giant trees that were teeming with monkeys - who were quite well behaved but looking for an invite to join us for our session. Two bottles of gin disappeared along with a dozen cans of lime soda in a matter of 3 hours that was peppered with Sufi songs mainly and everyone had the opportunity to play their favourite numbers too. Lunch was served which was adequate after which some of us relaxed and others got back to music and some photo opportunity across the beautiful landscape. We also had the opportunity of getting into the water in a coracle ride and we brought to close a day filled with simple unfiltered joy.

Everyone started back through some very unclement weather and second guessing the routes back home through the constant rain. Thankfully, through the safe driving skills exhibited by the vehicle owners we reached back to our respective destinations before 11 PM.

Bringing to a close a wonderful day surrounded by lush nature, enveloped by ethereal music and through lots of giggling, laughing and having a great time - much needed break in our respective busy lives !!

Till the next one !!

Ciao
