Our last morning in Asheville, NC and we woke up to a little bit of snow!
Just enough for the kids to get excited
It melted quickly so we were still able to pack up and head to Savannah. It was a long travel day and we needed to do some stuff to the RV so we planned to stay two nights at a campground in Savannah before parking the RV for 11 days!
Our friend, Tammi, showed up our first morning at the Savannah campground to help with some living room renovations. Grace and her have a great relationship! 😝
Kids are helping to haul away the love seat and dinette table that were in the RV.
New couch and table/stools! So much more room and I love being able to chill out on the couch.
Work and school work going down on the back patio of T&L’s house - looking out over the pool and backyard. I loved this outdoor space!
T&L waited for our arrival to decorate the tree so the kids could help
They did a good job of covering the lower and middle portions of the tree!
They only managed to break one ornament! ☹️
Beautiful!!!
Lorri and the kids cut out cookies to bake and decorate
Sugar
And more sugar!
Jason and the kids spent an afternoon at Oatland Nature Center. This plantation style home was the visitors center. Pretty swanky!
Exploring the nature trails
Wolves, bobcats, alligators and many birds were found that day!
Video - eagles chattering
On Saturday, we explored the historical area of Savannah starting with lunch at The Pirate House
The restaurant provides costumes for the kids
It got rather cool out when we got closer to the river so like true tourists, we bought some Savannah sweatshirts to blend in with the crowd!
I’ve never seen historic steps before but this is what they look like! There are a handful of these throughout the riverfront area taking you from the Main Street down to the river. Very steep and slippery - there are stories of people falling down these and dying. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the pubs along the riverfront!
We visited the stores along the riverfront and this park area decorated for Christmas

Forsyth Park is located on historical Gaston Street
Beautiful park and very popular for weddings and was in the movie, Forrest Gump, when Tom Hanks was sitting on the bench talking about life being like a box of chocolates.
❤️
Our matching family pajamas arrived while in Savannah - even Racket got some!
On Sunday we explored Wormsloe - another picturesque place!
Hundreds of Live Oaks covered in Spanish moss are found in this park. This was also in the movie, Forrest Gump, when Forrest was running down the lane to escape the bullies and Jenny was yelling “Run Forrest run!” We tried to get Jackson to re-enact that scene but no luck!
Such pretty vegetation and sunlight
Always climbing something
Always posing!
Wormsloe was established by English settlers in the late 1700s
The original house ruins are still standing
The walls were made out of oyster shells
View from Wormsloe ruins
Fun and interesting things to explore on the trails
Other historical buildings at Wormsloe include this home and a blacksmith shop
We ate lunch at a restaurant on the water - food and drinks were amazing!
Sunny, beautiful day
❤️
And a huge ice cream cookie sandwich for dessert!
That afternoon we drove out to Tybee Island
I guess it was too cold for most of the locals that day - not for us though!
Video - chasing the birds
Jackson loved Lucy! I thought we’d find her in his bag once we got back to the RV!
Tammi took Jason and Jackson deer hunting one day - they didn’t see anything but he did get to shoot this big gun! It had more kick than he expected!
While the boys and Tammi were hunting, Grace and I had some girl time!
Christmas pattern!
Shopping at the outlets
And lunch with ET!
Exploring the Christmas lights in the neighborhood
One night, the kids made this fort and slept in it all night!
Another day, Jason took the kids to the children’s museum and railroad museum
The children’s museum is built in and around this brick structure

Transport to move train cars around
These pics remind me of Thomas the Train books! Cool to see how they stored and rotated the train cars.
Grace lost her third tooth at the end of our Savannah stay and the tooth fairy was still able to find her in Georgia!
