Singapore

First day without rain.

They do not exaggerat when they say it’s rain season in Singapore!

Arrival:

On the 9th when I got here it was pooring, I couldn’t even walk from the guest house to the big house (30m) cause the water was running downhill, towards me, looking like I was entering a, not so free falling, waterfall. I’ve been living in North Carolina, so I’ve seen heavy rain before, but if this was not as bad, or maybe even worst, than the heaviest of rains in NC, I’m not sure what it was!

MRT’s (metro/subway) downtown were compleately closed due to overfloat, streets were closed and cars were being pulled from the “potholes” around town. Even busses driving aroundwere overfloating, and people on the lover level’s angles were covered by water...

Day 2:

It didn’t take long before Singapore was working, almost as if nothing had happened. Sure there are still MRT’s that are closed down, but they have a system for when these things happen, and it seems as it works.

Well enough about the rain for now..

The 10th of January was the day I got the keys to my dorm room!! (And now you’re wondering where I’ve been staying for the night then, easy - I’m staying with the most amazing family, Sus, Kent, there two dogs Odie and Shaggy, a danish family my aunt and uncle met when they lived here)

Back to the dorm room. It’s tiny, I mean I don’t even think my car will fit in there (Peougot 107),it’s on the 7th floor, so hopefully I won’t have to think about the geckos being all over my room, and then I got the view of the soccer field. I didn’t bring anything with me to the dorm, and I didnt really have much for the room at all, Sus had already offered me to take me to IKEA the next day, so I just headed back to my not so little guest house in the back of the yard.

Orientation day:

“Mandatory orientation, January the 11th 2018 at 2PM, at Lecture Theater 2A” - BIG DEAL RIGHT!!! at least that’s what it sounded like in the letter. In real life, not so much. It turned out to be 3 hours with maybe what was worth 20min of useful information, and the rest of the time it was just people with horrible accents who tried to scare us from doing anything stupid and illegal - either “you die”, “10years or more in jail” or “it will ruin you”.

So I went bad to my guest house again, food was served and Sus poured us a glass of wine, a glas turned into a bottle and then night night.

IKEA day:

‘Julestjerne’ day:

Early excitement:

Pats, orchard, lion, marina bay sands, etc
