#4: On the road again

After a couple of wonderful days, it was time to leave our quaint dwelling in Kaysersberg and head home. It served us well but for two things: all the beds only had a bottom sheet, comforter, and pillow covered by a sham. There were no top sheets or pillow cases to be found. And there were no hand towels or washcloths. Kind of hard to wash up without them. Amanda & Taylor said this is not uncommon. Guess I’ll start packing a washcloth and hope they wash ALL the bedding with each new guest. 😳

On our drive back to Ramstein, we passed the most beautiful fields of sunflowers and took a quick detour to get a closer look. There were miles and miles of them.

Truly, it was a lovely drive. But one disappointment with our travel was the lack of signage alerting us to when we had crossed into a new country. Mckenna and I were both excited to be traveling to a new country, but it was rather anticlimactic as we had no clue when it happened. We kept looking for big welcome signs like you see back home when you cross state lines. Nothing. At some point, we noticed a change in language on the highway signs and realized it had happened.

But a bright spot on the road was the excellent rest stops. They were easy to get to, clean, and super efficient in design. They even had music piped in each stall for your listening pleasure.

We stopped for lunch in our 1st big German City, Saarbrucken. \240It was like most big cities: hot, lots of people, traffic, and shopping. \240

Mckenna was adventurous with our meal once again and tried Thai food for the 1st time. Success - it was delish!

Once we got home and unpacked, although tired, we all reluctantly agreed that “three days eating pastries in France calls for a day in the gym back in Germany.” ~Taylor Swindle

So we hit the gym.

It was hard, but SO worth it! #NoRegrets
