Random chick outside of a gas station, little did I know chicken are everywhere on the island & they are a protect species. The government recognized that they eat bugs.
Flew out of Panama City Beach that morning, ATL to Ft. Lauderdale. Then rented a car. We stopped by a vape shop for me to buy a new smok kit since I had left mine! Lunch at . We hit Miami traffic unfortunately which slowed down our progress. Got into the keys just before sunset, we had to pull over to snap this photo!
A separate post just from our hotel. The Sait in Key West is one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed before.
Sleep Saintly & Play Naughty beds!
The window shades were dark & matched the room perfectly with pictures of the blue skie & clouds. We slept in until 10am Saturday morning & it was heaven in that dark room.
All the furniture was white leather including the trim on the beds.
Woke up in Key West FL for Ken’s Birthday. We were both very tired from the long day before but we still managed to see all the sights. Took train around the island, visited the hemiway house, climbed the lighthouse, ate key lime pie at little bakery during the day. After hours we got a beer from Captain Tony’s, went on the ghost & graveyard tour where we met Robert the Doll!Dinner by the docks, feeding the fish it was a great way to celebrate his 52nd birthday!
The Hemiway House has over 54 cats on site & they were bread to be 6 toed to better catch mice on ships. Cats are considered good luck in the keys.
The view from the Hemiway House. We walked over to the lighthouse
Panorama from the top. It’s only like 80 steps up a spiraling, narrow stair way but what a view!
You just have to take a selfie once you make it to the top!
I’ll never forget feeding all those fish down by the docks
Boats as far as the eye can see.
View from the oyster shack, Half Shell Raw Bar where we dined. Best calamari I’ve ever eaten with side of conch Ceviche & conch fritters.
Mallory Square where street performers are everywhere
Panorama of the sunset at Mallory Square
Beautiful skies far & wide
Just some more local residents
We ended the evening with a Ghost & Gravestones tour where I learned all about the 4th most haunted place in America, Key West. And a quick stop to meet Robert the Doll
You can touch a curse piece of treasure here but I decided to pass! Better safe than sorry.
We took advantage of our last day in Key West by rising early. Our first stop was Fort Zachary Taylor State Park.
An exotic local resident can be seen all over the park & these things are fast.
The iguanas are all over the park.
I spoke to one the employees and they are not a fan of them!
A few videos from the fort
Of course no trip is complete without making a pit stop at the Southern Most Point. There wasn’t time to get a full picture with the buoy so this will just have to do.
As we made our way towards Fort Lauderdale the view was breathtaking.
The old bridge outside of Bahia Honda State Park
Last stop was to Baby’s Coffee where I snapped the shop a mother chick & her babies.
