Finally! The Chatahochee Mountains!!
We have arrived. \240Only 12 hours since we left the house this morning. Rain has stopped and sun is giving us some golden rays as it sets.
Time for hedgie to stretch his little legs too.
All ends well with day #1.

Only one snuck out \240early this morning and got a hike in to see one of the waterfalls in between rain showers
We decided that we would not be stopped. \240Rain will not hinder our trip, it will make it adventurous!!
We didn’t just survive 1062 stairs, we survived 1062 stairs in the rain!!!
I had visions of ending the day with warm cookies and milk. \240I thought I would surprise the kids as they played outside in the rain... they could enter the camper to the smell of yummy chocolate chip cookies. \240 Well, it didn’t work out. Our fire alarm went off really bad smell now! whoops!

Day #3
After everyone slept in (a summer miracle!) we grabbed some breakfast at a local restaurant, known for their Johnny cakes. YUM! Kids had Johnny cakes, Gene had a brisket scramble, and Jen had bacon & onion jam!
We had a nice, wet and rainy hike to the damn.!
Afterwards, we settled down in a pavilion to enjoy a fireplace, games, and hammocks

Our only unfortunate brush with nature was a black widow! Alexis told mommy their was a ‘bug’ by her... Lexi saved the day!
We ended the day by going out to eat! Rain makes mom lazy!!

We are staying at a KOA in east Asheville. No rain today, we are thankful!!

DAY #6
Today we decided that all needed a break. The kids were not up for another day of hiking. They were excited to stay at the campground, fish, and play with their new friends! They spent hours scraping sticks on flat rocks to make spears... \240
We did break away for lunch. Had to try the local German restaurant in Black Mountain. , Schnitzel, brats, red cabbage, sauerkraut, cucumber salad... yum!!
A beautiful day to fish and enjoy the outside. Sunny and high of 70.
Way to go Alexis!
Levi spent time teaching Alexis how to play checkers. :)
The next two days we will be driving to NY! \240

Little Falls, New York
We made it to Little Falls, NY Friday! Yesterday we hiked through the Adirondacks. So excited to be with our friends Keith and Sharon (aka sha-sha)

This afternoon we drove Gene to the Albany airport. \240After a few days of work, he will rejoin us as we head to Maine. \240In the mean time, there is lots more fun to be had with the kids in NY!!
