I waited for the church to open in Wissant to get a pilgrim’s stamp in my VF passport. \240The woman there was very kind. \240There were no pews in the church, only chairs lined up.
Todays trek started around 9:00. \240Out of Wissant, an old fishing village, up to the farmland steppes and away from the shoreline. Much of the terrain didn’t seem unfamiliar, landscape you could see in Montana or Eastern Washington.
The V.F. signs are present, but you have to look for them — and the signs are varied, requiring some interesting at times. \240Off trail twice today and my phone wouldn’t charge because of water in the lightening cord connector. \240ARGH! \240No GPS security verification.
No other pilgrims or anyone else on the entire trail today, and no sign of recent activity.
Clocked over 16 miles and made Guînes this afternoon. \240My pack is heavy!😀
